Umm that shit is cheap and good.

And solid Metallica mentions with TUI, Hit the Lights, Escape, Whiplash, and Jump in the Fire.

And the presence of Pantera is also disgusting.

Pantera fits the "party Thrash" vibe I'm getting at.

Metal Church isn't thrash either and neither is Metallica's Sad But True or Enter Sandman.

It fits party vibe though - big riffs, catchy.

There's quite a few of them around. I was surprised when I first got here too.

They're overrated massively, but Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar are good albums. Nothing compared to when I first heard them though.

Nothing.I just cannot stand Pantera. They are for me the band that embodies the spirit of the Nineties, a decade during which thrash metal was dead. For me Pantera is the opposite of Thrash Metal.

I have gone through periods of liking and hating Pantera and am now pretty indifferent to them.

Pantera really aren't a thrash band, they have some thrashy songs but they're much more about the groove,

When I was a kid I loved cowboys and vulgar to death. I always liked vulgar better when I was young. I listened to them not too long ago and while cowboys still kind of holds up, vulgar doesn't.

Vulgar comes off as childish and way too angsty to me now.

Cowboys and Trendkill are their best efforts, oh the grooves on Trendkill, desperately want to learn to play 10's the groove in that song seems like it would be so fun to play

I don't see the argument that groove negates Thrash when this has never been true except for Pantera. Their first two albums with Phil were commercialized thrash records with Judas Priest like vocals. It was definitely their own thing and they had a little of everything. They are in the same boat as 90's Megadeth, Metallica and a little like Biohazard and Prong who were all considered Thrash/Heavy Metal acts. Just because it isn't exactly like the complete other end of the spectrum doesn't mean it doesn't fit at all. Kreator went through that weird transitional period remember. I don't like the big four, plus testament, overkill and exodus and the soundalikes being the only thing considered real thrash to the point half of those bands releases aren't considered thrash.
