Truly, Metal Hammer is on the bleeding edge when it comes to discovering new talent.
also, I love Ulver and I love JMJ but they sound nothing like each other.. JMJ worships melody and Ulver evokes atmosphere..

I was alerted to these guys after they featured in the "goth chapter" of the "New bands" section of the current issue of Metal Hammer magazine. Apparently these guys started out as a "Pedestrian black metal band", but have since morphed into something that sounds like- to paraphrase: "A Jean-Michel Jarre album covered by an excentric avant-garde jazz trio". Their frontman has also apparently collaborated with someone called "Kveldssanger", to release an unnamed album of Nordic acoustic folk music. Their current album is called "Blood Simple", and their name is Ulver. Check these guys out! |

Sadly Ulver- (or "Culver" as it's correctly spelt :roll: ) arrived just too late to get nominated for a "best newcomer" award at Kerrang!!!, but then I suppose they're not signed to Roadrunner anyway. |
