Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones playing something between Arctic Monkeys and QOTSA. Nowhere near as good as it sounds, but Fridge and Seinfeld should like it.

yeah it's not really that good to be honest for the musicians involved.

Listening to the full songs multiple times resulted in a positive judgement from myself. 30 second clips just don't do it justice.

Heh, I did intend to give it a proper go, you're right that my initial summary was based on a song or two and the clips on the myspace. Was considering a review, actually; pleased to see Grohl state in an interview that he chose this because the world didn't need another Foo Fighters album right now, which is refreshingly honest from a major artist. I've always preferred him as a drummer, as well.

I tried listening to it, didn't click. I'll give it another go once I'm done with my shitload of other stuff to listen to. :S

Just listened 2-3 times some songs in youtube yesterday morning. They didn't click. I'd give it a try in the future, but now I've got a long list of more interesting things to listen to.

I've not been expecting much, mainly because I assume Homme to be the main creative force and he's been past his best for a while now. I will give it a go though.

Not very good, from what I've heard. More like a jumble of ideas made marketable due to the names involved.

Friends shouldn't let friends get drunk and form bands.

There's a couple few good tracks. Most of it sounds like leftovers from "Vulgaris"

But on a whole it doesn't really hold my attention. So I can't really comment on the 'growing' quality of it.

I just listened to samples on Amazon. Based on that, I like it. Sounds like a rawer and less polished QOTSA.

Speaking of which, according to Wikipedia, the Queens are supposed to return to the studio this summer to record a new album. Hopefully, it will be out by the end of the year.

After listening to the album just today, I have to agree with the general consensus: I'm disappointed. The low-fi production really betrays the music, and just about every song sounds the same. This has neither the hooks nor diversity of Homme's work with QOTSA.

I think I'll just go with Heart On (by Eagles Of Death Metal) and forget Them Crooked Vultures unless they put out a better album later on (like Audioslave did with their sophomore record).

Boy, Shirley Manson has been seriously raving about this album. On her Facebook page, she called it her favorite album of the decade.

The album was boring.
