Stopped by the FYE in Oklahoma City today and was browsing through the used CD section. Someone earlier had sold their entire King's X collection, so I was quick to follow up.

Bought Gretchen Goes to Nebraska, self titled, Faith/Hope/Love, Dogman, Black Like Sunday, Out of the Silent Planet, Ear Candy, and Manic Moonlight, for under $5.00 each.

For CD collectors like myself, even though actual music stores are becoming less common, I find the ones that are sticking around are a gold mine for used CD's that people are selling off, usually in bulk. For instance, the other week I picked up a copy of Gamma Ray's No World Order used. When I got in the car, I noticed that it was a signed copy!

Bottom line, if you are looking to keep your collection growing, start digging. It is amazing what you will find for dirt cheap in the bargain bin.

Good for you but such a shame to see the awesome works of a band like King's X in the bargain bin. They deserve better.

Truth, but I look at it like this: The guy has probably just abandoned CD format altogether, and kept MP3 copies of everything. Personally, I love CD's for the collecting aspect, but as a whole the medium has become irrelevant. The flip side is people like myself being able to clean up what others are dumping for dirt cheap. Someone already invested into the CD's at one point or another, so I don't feel like the band is getting stiffed or anything (and I would gladly pay full price for any King's X album).

Additionally, compared to the vast wasteland of pop/rap/country used albums out there, you will find very little rock/metal in comparison (except for 80's compilations of course).

The overall decline of CD's presents an interesting opportunity for collectors to really expand their collections at a reasonable price.

Such an amazing band. Cool that you scored Manic Moonlight. That's my favorite. Totally different for them, but it's fantastic if you can get past the "electronic" side of it.

And for those who follow all their side projects, a new Jelly Jam album is coming out in November.

Can't wait! :dio:

Great find. I am still trying to get a copy of "Live and Live Some More."
