Too much? Haha. I think there's too little melody, or at least they could be a little less harsh as I think that kind of throws things of kilter a bit at times. I still really like them either way, I just think they could be better.

FYI: I just deleted a reply here by The-Ytse-Groover, he has 11 posts total (very knowledgable for having 11 posts, hmmm) and decided to call me out in his post here (some of you may have seen it). He wrote a novel, quoting multiple lines I wrote—all out of context—to try and make me look like an asshole, he even called me a racist.

We can argue semantics all day, folks, but it's tiresome to try and discuss music and have someone go back and pull a line from here and another from there and then compare them like, "Hey! Look who's the liar?" Pretty lame if you ask me. This board is for discussing music, not for starting flame wars.

yeah, Ytse-Groover's post gave me 150% of my RDA of incoherent rant. I didn't respond though, this thread is already full of shit. :D

I didn't even read the part after he quoted everything I said. It's obviously someone who was having a bad day, or is actually someone we already know.

People will probably get pissed because it was a rant against me and I deleted it, but seriously, when I said "...anyone who says this is metalcore did not listen to the album..." I wasn't referring to "hearing" the album, so comparing that to when I later said "...I know you listened to the album, you reviewed it..." they're clearly not the same. Placing those two things together is simply lame and that's all it was, pulling things out of context to start a fight. And doing it after we'd begun talking about Eyes Of Fire again is very deja vu-like.

I feel bad, though, he put a lot of work into it. :(

It was a rather hypocirtical post indeed, but moreover is your reaction. And shame you didn't read it all, in the last part he was complimenting your taste and all.

How about you just fill up 4 pages of rant, and then delete a post with some structured backfire?

Structured? He pulled everything I said out of context and started a fight! Shall I quote the board rules for you? The previous 4 pages were discussions, civil discussions. There is a world of difference. You continue to amaze me.

And you continue to piss me off! You admitted yourself that you had only read the first lines of his post, yes, he actually mentioned the being civil thing about you as well, something with respecting people's opinions. It's ok if you can't stand criticism, but don't go off deleting people's posts. It was just criticism, and although its validity can be argued, it was a civil message. But don't worry, I won't start another flamewar here, you can have your oh so precious last word again.

I piss you off? It's amazing that you defend Zad and his alter-ego starting flamewars INTENTIONALLY on the board, but you can't handle mature discussion and reason. I read enough of what he wrote. The point was to call me out. When he can't properly quote me the rest of what he says loses all credibility.

And if the last word was so important to me I would have locked the thread.

Too much? Haha. I think there's too little melody, or at least they could be a little less harsh as I think that kind of throws things of kilter a bit at times. I still really like them either way, I just think they could be better.
I like my sludge metal really harsh because to me the genre is all about being really heavy, really abrasive, and really drawn out.

Did you not like when Acid Bath went mellow? Man, I love their mellow tunes, they're so good. I'm a big fan of melody, though, so I can understand why Eyes Of Fire may leave someone wanting them to go a bit heavier.

I haven't heard Acid Bath :?

I downloaded the full album for Eyes of Fire and it is actually quite good worth at least 70 or 75 out of 100. I don't think the reviewer really got what genre they were going for because I thought the production was perfect... to me they sound somewhere in between Neurosis and Isis that was injected with melody.

Shit now I have some song from a band that sounds like them but I can't remember what it is. dear god this is pissing me off (its an outro to a song where theres sort of a quiet singing of "why are we running away? why do we live like child?" or something like that, i'm pretty sure those aren't the exact words... if anyone knows what it is please tell me before i kill myself)

PS. Eyesore, you should send me their 20 minute song :D

Not bad at all :), but not extremely good either. Pelican pwns this in the genre of drony post-rock, and although the Red Sparowes are not as heavy as this (less bass) they destroy this song in every aspect. But hey, it's the Red Sparowes goddamnit! The buildup is not really well crafted, but the climax is great. I can't see how this is metalcore, really. I think an album with a song like this should get no less than 65, if the rest is a bit close to this track's quality, I'd agree with a 70 or 75.

The rest is like a poppier version of that Isis style sludge, they're the only band in that style that I've heard use verses and choruses. Their singers are really good though, perfect for the genre... I think the album deserves 70-80 and that writing a review of the album without mentioning Isis or Neurosis is just plain wrong...

and I'll retract my "better than Red Sparowes" statement, just listened to At The Soundless Dawn and it is too godly
