He needs to learn about human relations. Nobody wants his hippie reviews but he's still going to do them.

Melodic metal like Masterplan is not far off from rock, what Dio is doing now is rock. Would you complain about a new Dio album being reviewed? Of course not. It's all relative and until reviewers start reviewing punk or folk or whatever, I don't think it's worth complaining. 99% of what is reviewed here is still metal.

I think that's the problem, I'll be reviewing everything I like, that means some metal, but also post-rock, and moreover, everything from classical to tango, to experimental jazz, to neo-folk, to world and chamber music. Anyone remember Kátai Tamás? That's a good example, and it wasn't so bad was it?

Misha, you're a great reviewer and forumite, but I don't think it would be appropriate to have drastically different genres reviewed here. I know it's not my call, but reviewing Tango and World is too much. Metal is the core of this site, and that focus is a huge strength.

However that being said, perhaps you should have your own reviewing section, kind of like "Misha's corner", where non-metal music can be reviewed with the purpose of broadening a metalhead's horizons so to speak. I know I would find it interesting to read what a former metal listener now finds enjoyable. I mean people who like power metal, may find a cd full of Gregorian chants worth looking into. If I’m not mistaken, I believe that’s the angle you’re going for.

Oh, come on. Raise your hand if you think Misha is serious about reviewing tango.

Tango is so overrated, only metal deprived south americans listen to it.

If you were referring to my post, I was merely using Tango as an example. Techno, Ragae, New Age, New wave, Disco could all be used as a substitute.

Disco reviews!?

i've actually been moving away from metal over the last few months in favour of more technical and/or progressive stuff... i think ever since i heard them last summer Ephel Duath have been killing my interest in metal

Good luck with that! Hahaha. I think tango would be a bit much, don't you? I would, however, review a Dead Can Dance album as I feel like the metal world in general enjoys or either respects that band.

I don't mind a more open-minded attitude towards reviews, but you can review pretty much any soft shit and get away with calling it ambient. Let's bring me into this: I'm planning reviews of the Rolling Stones, MC5, and Dead Can Dance for the site I work for. But that's a rock/metal site. And even though this place gets thorugh incredible amounts of rock reviews, as Chuck said, METAL reviews. The bloody companies shouldn't be sending you non-metal, simply enough, so that's not an excuse.

Ultimately, Misha will do what he wants, and this poll or whatever won't get a look in. Further down the line, I predict an argument starting, then Mike will come in and say what Ken said, then Alex will pop up and give a long rambling speech about it all.

Misha, dude, do what the fuck you want. People'll read it anyway.

Nice to meet ya! I used to be called Anonymous Metalhead, but I felt the name change was needed.

A few years ago, before the forums got a major overhaul, a "guest" poster would be known as "anonymous metalhead" Once new forum software was used, and registration became a manditory, I decided to keep the username alive.

Kuruus, is a fictional name of one of my favorite characters in a science fiction series.
