Once trapped in the IDM camp there is no turning back.

And now betake yourself in devotion and cry over all the time you wasted for low-grade music

NF: confused... I gave up music as a career, because it sucks. Now I'm looking at Masters Degrees in stuff like Political Science. The University of Birmingham says all I need is "a good honours degree", but doesn't mention any specific subjects.

Dare I hope that they would stretch to taking someone with a good honours in something as preposterous and irrelevant as Jazz music?

i don't know how old you are, but my suggestion is you study that hard now or else later on you're screwed.

i also hate math, but it's important on 90% of the things you'll have to study later on.

yah... i've only got 2 important tests left, in french and math... i've got to get at least a 4 (wich is the sufficient grade. 2 is worst and 6 is best) in both or i'm screwed...

i also had a really hard teacher in high-school, but in a class of 14, 12 passed the national exam, and of those 12, 10 scored 15 or more out of 20 (the math national exam has a nationwide average score of 7 or something). my old school was generally quite demanding with the students but fact is we all went to college better prepared than the average portuguese student.

so you should be happy she's pushing you to do better

INFIDELS! I herby issue a math-fatwa upon you. It is now the duty of any true believer in the noble arts of mathematics to smother you with 2nd order differential equations, matrix derivatives and x-dimensional vector spaces for tainting the honor of the one true prophet and messiah.

By this image of godly manifestation I rule:

Meh, 2nd order differential equations are for pussies. Now antiderive a five dimentional space, solve a 3rd oder non-linear complex differential equation, or do something useful with maths :P

Haha.. A believer. 2nd orders are indeed for rookies, but I am at work right now and was just working with one of those. Besides, that is just how a fatwa is executed. A decision by the mutjahid I'm afraid.

Strange cases of graded algebra like antiderivations is hardly neccesary, haha..

just as i'd expect from someone who issues a fatwa, you failed to realize that i said that math is important. here:

right now, i'm doing differencial equations for 2+ variables, the part concerning minimum and maximum values with a restriction. the Lagrange method thing.

i hate math, but it's important, and the parts with differencial equations are almost fun to do. the bit i hate the most is trigonometry but i don't expect to find much of that in the future.

You gave up Music?! That must've been a tough choice. Good luck with the Political Science, and as long as it's a 'good honours degree', what should it matter? We need a saxophonist PM!
