hmm... i've no fucking idea how i'm supposed to respond to this episode of Donald Duck.... nonetheless, it's clearly showing that cartoons in it's early days wasn't afraid of exposing children to "propaganda" or political content, if you wish, as if that's what small children needs the most.

anywho... "enjoy"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7-jEsNa ... ald%20duck

i'm not surprised that i haven't seen this episode before, though...

I think this is the third or fourth old, incredibly politically incorrect cartoon I've seen in the past month. It's good they're being preserved and disseminated again, even in limited form. Stuff like this should be learned from (in this case, that propaganda isn't limited to The Enemy, which is an important lesson for kids). Everything is too sanitized now, in my ever-humble opinion. I vote for a return to the days when Cinderella's sisters cut off parts of their feet in order to fit into the glass slipper and try and fool the prince.

A link to a search under "banned Cartoons" on youtube.

Some cool stuff there. Go to the second page to see a flintstones cigarette ad!

I am speechless. I cannot believe cartoons were used in this way.

Whatever you say Johnathan Davis. I still had to Photoshop out the swastika on his hat because I figured someone on here would bitch about it. Nazi Donal Duck is the shit. I'm gonna dig up the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he is a negro slave. Oh gawd.

And it's still happening. Palestinian school textbooks are full of anti-semetic stuff, for example.

I think having Danish Pastries renamed 'Mohammed's Kisses' is punishment enough.
:D
Either all the newspapers in Europe should have printed them, or none.

this was quite common back then. Just look at the none-animated cartoons such as the Marvel cartoons, with Captain America who only knew how to beat the crap out of germans and japs, as they were called (always portraited as ugly stereotypes), back then.

anyway, good thing this cartoon was banned.. i hope it was... cuz small kids wouldn't understand the point of it, nor would they catch the end of the story. There's a higher chance they would begin to walk around the block yelling " Seig Heil!" " Heil Hitler".

On the contrary, that's why it should be shown, but in a more educational context. Make it into a history lesson, and a lesson about healthy skepticism. Teach those kids why these images were made, why propaganda in any form is bad. Pretending stuff like this doesn't exist is the worst thing you can possibly do, especially if it's motivated by a sense of political correctness. That's why books like "Huckleberry Finn" get banned in schools.

You're overestimating kids. You tell kids something is bad, they go do it right away. If some kid sees Hitler as an angry guy with a funny mustache, it might stick with him for the rest of his life. And why? Because people are idiots. You show more idiots what's wrong, more of them will do it. What you said should work normally, but stupid kids are fucking sponges. They suck these things in without filtering.

That's why they have to be given the filters. They have to be taught about these sorts of things; if you start banning things, it just ends up destroying art, because you become too paranoid about protecting the children from anything you deem objectionable.

Not only are kids stupid (I mean, a lot of them can't even read!), they're also really weak. I could take on like 30 five year olds just by myself; a lot more if I had weapons. Pussies.

I could totally take over an elementary school and be the king of like 500 kids.
