I noticed the reviewer compared this band to only one other band, Satyricon, only saying there were riffs that reminded him of theirs...

I haven't heard them, so I'm curious... Does this mean they have their own sound in Black Metal working for them?

Well actually, it ain't completley new, but I find it quite fresh and unique.

Nothing close to Satyricon by the way.

I haven't listened to any DsO stuff, but I have a question about their split with Moonblood (I couldn't find any reviews so I hope you can help me):

My friend offered me their split LP (he knows another guy who knows another, etc...). And I wonder if I should buy it. No, I'm not an idiot, there are 2 problems:

1. I don't have an LP player (or how is it called) and I'm pretty sure that a good one will be expensive;

2. The price of the split is 85 Euro.

So can anyone tell me:

1. Is it worth the price?

2. A small review, if possible...

Thank you

No album is worth 85 euro, as simple as that. Download it, use your 85 euros to buy 8 better albums or a LP player and be happy.

Easy, first limited to 350 copies, in vinyl. Second: Moonblood is one of the "kvltest" bands in the world because they released very limited material, only in tape or vinyl (never CD) and it was fuckin' great music. Third: Add to that the fact that they have split-up. Four: the fact that the split album is with one of the best BM bands out there (DsO); and you have a 85 euro collector's item.

Anyway, as I said before, no album is worth THAT much, just download it and get some other stuff with your money.

Dunno, they guy said there are only 350 copies... And I become crazy when it comes to my music collection...

I'm not gonna pay it in one piece: first 25 euros and then 20 each month.

Maybe you're right... But it's like with marks: a mark could've costed 1 $ and now 1,000... and there are ppl who buy those marks..

So can you give me at least a review?.. Someone?......

you should use your 85 euro print to make a pirate edition... you can sell each lp 20 euros... everyone will be happy and, btw, the same thing happened with Iron Maiden's soundhouse tapes EP... :D

anyway, i will never buy an album that expensive.... it's good to be true but it doen't show much respect for people who like your music !

I am a collector too, and I would be interested in that split as much as you are if not more, but man... 85 euros? Let's be serious please, after all it's still plastic in a cardboard sleeve.

Hey Desolate, I found this on a DsO interview, and I think this will change your choice on buying the album (for 80 Euros).

The earlier recordings of Deathspell Omega have recently been re-issued. What was the decision for this step and will these CDs be limited? Will the split with Moonblood and Mütiilation also be re-issued?

- Things evolve. Both inner and outer factors have led to this decision. The initial analysis that led us to believe that releasing our creations to a restricted circle would help to avoid all the mundane and incredibly uninspiring things infecting Black Metal related circles fell through. It worked, initially. But then we were reminded increasingly about senseless speculations, the obvious lack of deeper understanding for our standpoints by most and a stronger focus on the limited nature of our releases than on what they are truly consisting of. Not being able to adapt oneself in such a situation equals to being dispossessed of one's creations, and this is by no means acceptable ( responsibility is the keyword, here). The re-editions will not be limited. To those who want to confront themselves with the breath of the beast, blessed be.

All of our older releases will be re- issued, that includes the releases you mention.

You can thank me later.....

Note: Anyone interested in DsO or BM in general should read the complete interview as it is really interesting and the answers provided are extremely intelligent. DsO is without a doubt one of the strongest BM forces (musically and intelectually) around.

Hails to the French horde Deathspell Omega!!!
