Hmm, I thought SYL was just boring and City was more like the audible version of childishly fucking around à la Anal Cunt, so will I like this album any better?

I like Aaron am a huge Strapping Young Lad fan, and I have to agree with him on almost everything he wrote in his review. This is deffinitely much better then the self titled album that came out a few years ago and is very close to the quality of City, and let's be honest here, that album is so special theres very little chance that it can be bettered by this band. At first it seemed a bit sterile and there weren't really any memorable parts that stood out, but the more I listen to it the more it grows on me and bit by bit I'm starting to understand it, a characteristic which i have found in all of Devin Townsends good material in the past. I also found something else of note... it has a bit of a Physicist feel, although of much greater quality. Highly recommended to anyone who liked City or Physicist, or Devin in general.

is this a review of City or the new SYL's album?

I don't even know how you rate this album... You compare it to City...City there and there....

The self-titled album was a failure? (oh sorry, you said exasperating) How could this album be a failure of exasperating ?<

When i read a review, i want the reviewer to elaborate and most of all : I want to learn something. I want to know how good or bad is the album.

You should read Alex's reviews and learn of it. :?

The production that suits Strapping Young Lad best is the sort of production where about sixty things are going on at once, each has its own private amp, and these amps are all turned up to 16, (“This one goes to 16!”) bringing on that state where you’re so utterly deafened by the sheer, forceful noise that you stagger around like some sort of brain-dead zombie, blood spurting from your ears in a joyous, ecstatic waterfall as Devin continues to drive hundreds of sonic nails into your head per second while you claw at your face because of the horrific pain and joy that you are unable to end.

You meant that right  I actually really enjoyed reading that :D

Actually, Dark Angel has been ressurected, and a new album titled Darkness Returns is in the works. I do agree with you that this band sucks ass, and I can't see why Gene Hoglan would ever want to play with them, much less write this crap.

Actually, Gene Hoglan seems to be pretty happy working with Devin Townsend who, thank you very much, is not a fag but a talented versatile musician... something I don't expect you to understand...

Eh this and Machine Head sound like post thrash, burnt out losers trying to make a buck. Fuck them...and fuck their stupid aggro metal. I've never met the man, but if music is any indication of a person's character, then this guy sucks balls and is very faggy, very faggy indeed.

I will probably never touch this album with tongs cause it definitively not sounds like my style of metal, but I must say that I really like the review. Your reviews doesn't always look 100% serious but they are still good, and the part that Gast quoted was hilarious :P Keep up the good work man!

If you don't like this album then you are a disgrace to metal itself. This release is brilliant and its too bad that you're too busy living in the past to realize it.

P.S. How you can compare this to Pantera is beyond comprehension.
