C'mon guys we can't let this die just because the WC is over! The major european leagues are starting soon :)

At the moment I'm watching Sweden getting their asses kicked by Germany (again...).

Hey, our league started at the end of July!

Slow start for Le Guen's new-look Rangers so far. We're playing some nice stuff but finding it difficult to put chances away. Thomas Buffel has played so so well, but just can't hit the damn target so far!

We'll improve.

Buffel is playing with the Rangers? strange i thought he still played in Holland. Oh well, don't expect too much of him, he's belgian

Buffel is the absolute shiznicky!

Bah, today was a shitty football day.

Rangers go 1-0 up against Kilmarnock, miss a whole shitload of chances again, then lose a shitty goal again. then we scored to make a 2-1 with five minutes to go only for Alan Hutton to handball in the box with 1 minute to go. 2-2

Then Chelsea beat Blackburn 2-0 thanks to Andre Oojier having a shocking debut. Damn Dutchie.

When I actually watched footy (many years ago, now I only watch some international shit) I used to support Everton.

At the beginning of the 2005-06 season, MSI was behind an attempt by Kia Joorabchian to take over English club West Ham United. The plan was officially abandoned in November of the same year, when agreement on a valuation of the club could not be reached.

MSI also owns Corinthians...

strange thing is Chelsea's boss Abramovich is said to be a major player in MSI... wouldn't he want Tevez and Mascherano on his team?

Chelsea and Arsenal trade players - Gallas for Ashley Cole

http://www.wldcup.com/news/2006Sep/2006 ... occer.html

Quote:
The two rival London clubs issued a joint statement confirming Cole's long-rumoured move, which was completed minutes before the transfer window closed at midnight on Thursday.

Arsenal accepted William Gallas and five million pounds (9.5 million dollars, 7.4 million euros) for the England left-back, concluding the 12-month saga that linked Cole to Chelsea.

I though Gallas was unhappy at Chelsea because they kept playing him at left back? He's probably just going to end up playig there at Arsenal too. I suppose where he playes depends on whether Wenger rates Senderos or Clichy higher. In any case, Arsenal's defence is still ridiculosuly thin on the ground.

Yeah, it's unbelievable. They got Mascherano too  Both of those could probably play for one of the European top clubs.

Aha! during the "Apito Dourado" ("golden whistle") investigations in Portuguese Football, phone taps caught quite a few interesting conversations, including Boavista (whose president João Loureiro is the son of league president Valentim Loureiro) picking referees for their games and plans to make sure Benfica got screwed over in at least one game.

Although the bad news for West Ham is that it's probably the start of some very shady takeover dealings.

If you guys get kicked out of Europe and give Celtic free passage into the next round I'm personally going to beat up Portugal.

the problem is a crappy club called Gil Vicente signed Mateus when they couldn't, and they brought the case to a civil court (something FIFA doesn't allow). Juventus did the same a while ago and quickly went back on the whole thing when they were warned, but those bastards at Gil Vicente seem bent on taking this all the way.

if they do, FIFA could kick 5 clubs out of the european competitions and the national team out of the next euro. championship, which would suck!

if GV don't back out now and cause that to happen, they'll make quite a few people angry, so i'm sure they'll come to their senses and stop before they cause any more damage.

Yeah i read about this. MSI pertly owns Trevez and Mascherano and they're think of buying West Ham. But the thing thats dodgy about is that non of the MSI backers have identified themselves other then one person. hhhhmmmm.....shady indeed. Pretty soon all the clubs that are regularly in the premership will be foreign owned, over a 1/4 already are (well thats if West Ham goes the way it looks like they will). But for some reason i don't even have a problem with it, as long as the football is still exciting and of a high level i dont really give a shit who invests in English football.

Portugal was stopped by the might of.. er... Finland :/

we were pretty crappy...
- ronaldo is dribbling waaaaaaaaay too much
- ricardo costa is SHIT!!

Deco played pretty well though, as did youngster Nani (on his second international game). Nuno Gomes keeps OWNING Scolari, which is also good.

but we have to get out shit together if we want to win a competition. let's see how it goes after Simao, Jorge Andrade and Miguel get back at 100%.

San Marino coach aims keep score down against Germany

San Marino coach Giampaolo Mazza admits his team are already resigned to defeat in Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier against powerhouse Germany but hopes for a respectable scoreline.

 the game finished with Germany destroying them, 0-13!! the only way that's a respectable score is if you're the albanian u21 female special olympics team playing Brazil's first team.

it's because of teams like San Marino that i think there ought to be a European second divison. because the way it is, the top players play these crappy teams all year and then arrive at the actual competition exhausted. bear in mind that a player at a top european club can play 40-50 games a season for the club alone!

"but Azrael it's a dream for these guys to play the best teams!"
well fuck them! if they want to play the best teams, they gotta improve their game first!

The biggest problem is the extra games - there'd need to be a group of loser nations that was decided before the actual qualifiers. Then the qualifiying team(s) would need to play a full nother group. Too many games, man.
