what? i don't mean now, but sometime in the future.

i.e. the 2 or 3 last placed teams from each group all get lumped into the lower division, and the other teams play on normally. the lower division's highest placing teams would play the lowest-placed teams from the higher division to get promoted, or something.

Yeah, but thats still more games. Think about it, they'd effectivly have to qualify to take part in the qualifiers.

Unless you mean having a qualifying group made up of the shitty teams, which would defeat the purpose since you'd be guaranteed at least one truly awful team at the finals.

no, because the top teams would only play eachother. less games.

two groups would suck because a "good" group would inevitably mean that a handful of good teams wouldn't make it to the competition.

Right ok let me explain my point....um.....
Presently we have groups A through, I dunno, H? The winner of each group goes through and the second place guys all compete. This much we know. Every group has a few sucky teams that really have no place even playing comparatively shitty teams like Scotland and Lithuania, right? So if what I'm getting from you is right, you're saying they should have to play each other to see who gets the right to get into the main groups, A through H or whatever. This means these really shitty teams would need to go through an entire group stage before they get to the regular qualifying, which means they (but no the bigger nations) would need to play a helluva lot more games in order to reach the Euro Championship or the World Cup or whatever.

Or were you making some even more radical suggestion as to what we do with them?

while the "big boys" play actual qualifiers (say, for Euro 2012), the crap teams could play qualifiers to be able to play the qualifiers for the following competition (say, euro 2016).

the qualifying process is too different (namely rguarding the number of teams that qualify) between the World Cup and European Championship, that's the problem. a good team in 2016 could pay the price of a bad team in 2012, but on the other hand the fact is certain teams have always sucked and will probably always suck, so such a situation is unlikely.

dunno, then some summer playoffs between the worst "good" teams and the best "crap" teams or something.

Rovers are really struggling so far. What the hell was Lucas Neill thinking? We're given a penalty for absolutely nothing. Benni McCarthy picks up the ball. Lucas Neill: "No, no, better leave it to me Benni - I'm a right back, you see." Moron. Plus those two penalties given against us that Brad "Superman" Friedel saved were just as baffling as the one we were awarded.

On the plus side: Rangers 4-0 Falkirk. We finally gave someone a complete battering.

Livorno 2-3 Rangers :dio:

First ever victory by a Scottish team in Italy? Hells yes. Now if we can win out home games in this UEFA cup group we'd be certain of going through and the Auxerre game (on paper the toughest match in this group for us) hopefull wouldn't matter.

Also:

Krakow 1-2 (Blackburn) Rovers :dio:

Good night all round for the Rad.
