I saw Spirited Away again, and I like it a whole lot more than I remembered. Pretty artsy and emotive stuff.

lol, I read this on the raetyourmusic forum. thought it was worth quoting.

Quote:
Billy Madison is an incisive look at the post-boomer generation's inability to grow up and accept responsibility, and at its core is about how kids are afraid of adults, and adults are afraid of not measuring up to their parents.

Happy Gilmore is a trenchant look at the violence inherent in the male psyche, and how young males deal with their inner rage and how it relates to protecting loved ones.

Mr. Deeds is textually about the inherent values gap between rich and poor (or rather, the disappearing middle-class), but is also sub-textually a critique of Hollywood's vision of what class in America means.

Big Daddy is inherently a call for revolutionary social upheaval in the definition of family and how we raise our children.

Adam Sandler - smarter than people thought?

It gets better everytime you watch it :P

I love that movie, Chihiro is so alive. You should watch 'Whisper of the Heart' and 'Grave of the Fireflies' too, my favourites of the Ghibli movies.

The House on Sorority Row

Generic but cool 80s slasher that I found for £0.97 in Music Zone

My friend got Shark Attack for £0.97 from Music Zone recently, i got Shark Attack 2 for £1.97.

I'm pretty sure I paid a full £5 for Shark Attack 3 about 18 months ago and I'm certain it was the best move of my life. :dio:

I love Music Zone. Just the other day I also found Two Evil Eyes in their super budget section, which is something that I hadn't been able to find anywhere for ages.

Down in the Valley - pretty standard and good drama movie. Edward Norton played his role really well... althuogh I think they should have spent less time on his relationship with the girl and more time on his relationship with the son, because I think that was more important to the movie.

I really wanna see Grave of the Fireflies, 'cuz I heard it was one of the most depressing movies ever. Haven't heard of the other one, but I will check it out. :dio:

Grave of the Fireflies is excellant, a different kind of "war" movie and very Japanese.

I think Im out of my mind, but I really didnt like Grave of The Fireflies. I love anime and im a huge Ghibli nerd, but that movie ruined itself for me by telling the ending during the intro, I fucking hate that. Whats the use in watching if I know, why should I care about anything when its already processed in my mind and I dont care anymore?

I didnt hate it really, but I was GREATLY disappointed and would most likely give it a 6/10. It is a very sad movie, but like I said, due to its choice of narrative, I was over anything that happened, before it happened.

Thats just me though, I still recommend it to anyone.

Watched Two Evil Eyes, and enjoyed all of it.

For those that don't know it's two hour long films packaged as one- the first directed by utter legend George Romero, and the second by my own cinematic hero, Dario Argento. They adapt Edgar Allen Poe stories.

The Romero half is always panned, but after seeing it I don't really understand why. Arguably it's better than his last feature length- it just has a slightly weak punchline. Argento's half is awesome, of course :P This time it stars Harvey Keitel, which is rather odd seeing as how he hardly ever uses famous actors, except Asia.

I watched Evil Dead 2. It is sad to say but both it and 1 have NOT aged well at all.

For real? Those films seem fresh to me every time I see them, especially 2.

Matchstick Men.

8/10, one of the few movies I actually liked Nicholas Cage in.

Yeah matchstick men was pretty good.

I watched Slither, it was entertaining, then Eraserhead... it was pretty fucked.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High - For a teen comedy, it's quite good. Especially considering the fact that it's probably one of the originals. Sean Penn, in particular, was hilarious in this film.

I prefer 1 to 2.

Army of Darkness of course sucked balls and begged for seconds.

The other day I bought The Thing on DVD. Then last night I watched The Thing on DVD. Then I remembered how awesome The Thing was and how Kurt Russell is my Man Hero.
