It's pretty good. Not the best Scorcese movie, but definitely deserved Best Picture over the other candidates. The performances are great, especially Jack Nicholson and Leo Dicraprio.

I don't think it's as good as people say it is. I think it's extremely overrated. It is, however, still a good movie. I just wasn't surprised at all. Everything seemed rather trypical of that sort of movie. Definitely good, though; it's just not the greatest movie ever made, like some people suggest.

Hot Fuzz

Pretty good, but the constant sound effects get VERY annoying when heard in a cinema at tinnitus-inducing volume

Ok.........and this is mandatory. Every fucker talking up the Departed (and yeah it is good) must go rent/buy Infernal Affairs and see just how great it is and why it swept the Asian film oscars for almost every award. Serious guys, give in, stop being afraid of sub titles and see what great film making is all about. And here is a hit......it isn't about remaking a movie and "putting your stamp on it", especially when your stamp is exacly the same. Don't get me wrong, Departed ruled, but watch where it came from, it is seriously a great movie.

I saw Infernal Affairs long before I saw The Departed, IA is better in many ways, the movie is way more complex, but The Departed has Nicholson and DiCaprio. Overall I prefer the original.

Oh yeah, didn't they make 3 IA movies?

Subtitles make it impossible for me to care about any of the characters =\

Todays modern dilemma. Get over it, and see some great Asian films.

Yeah, and actually the second one is my fave. The 3rd one is way convoluted.

I guarantee you that Tony Leung and Anthony Wong can more then match up to DiCaprio and Nicholson in acting ability. Andy Lau less so, but he pulls of the Damon part much better as well.

Anthony Wong won an Asian Oscar for playing a psycho in Untold Story which is a sicko Cat3 film and he still won for it.

I'm by no means afraid of subtitles. I'm willing to give it a shot. I just need to put it on the queue thingy.

I have to say, after seeing Min-sik Choi in Oldboy, I'm beginning to get the feeling that the big names like Al Pachino, Jack ze God, and many more has some serious competition.

Green Street - Pretty good. Surprisingly nasty, and a good role from Hobbit-boy.

Suspiria - One of the few horror films to really freak me out (at the beginning) and then only because of the awesome soundtrack. Not as bad as I was expecting, and I can see myself watching it again fairly soon. Loved the amount of detail in each shot, going to have to watch all the documentaries and that on the second disc. Charles, thanks.

I don't understand the love for Jack Nicholson, particularly in his hammy overhyped (just the Departed itself) role as Costello.

Anyhow, I'll take Anthony Wong and Tony Leung every day over just about every American actor. Pacino is the only one I like nearly as much.
