I'm sorry for bumping this thread again, but I just love this album so god damn much! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET TIRED OF IT!
I want to buy a time machine and get to august already so I can get my hands on Time. I mean, if it's even better than this.... no no, it's just not possible. Or is it?

Nah, impossible :P I think Wintersun is amazing. Starchild is my personal favorite-favorite-favorite :dio: However, I did get a bit tired of it  . I'm currently more addicted to Ensiferum first album. Same singer anyhow :D

Bump...

And i'm also sorry, but i couldn't resist saying a couple of words, i listened to this album a few minutes ago, and again i was blown away

The opening song is.... devastating. It's not a bullet, but a frickin' A BOMB! Like an avalanche falling upon you, freezing cold, fast - spreading, beautiful but lethal! Snow falling madness!!! WOAAAAA!!

Anyways, august is far behind us, and still no word from Jari, so we will all be waiting for next year's hopeful arrival of the new material.

Death and the Healing is still the best track on the album for me.

I still don't hear this album as the amazing thing people claim it is. It's good, but nothing special, and most definitely nothing unique in any way.

Anywho, this is in my top 5 albums of all time. Every song is awesome.

I gave this album away to my little sister a few years ago in a moment of narrow mindness - it wasn't black metal, ha ha
Not a bad album, though.

Best fuckin album ever. Period. Jari has made us wait too long for his next album! It was supposed late this year but still no word on whats going on with it.
Anyway I agree with Stefan, Death and the Healing is the best song on the album

This one sounds like a million other melodic death metal albums.

Disagree. This sort of scale and complexity is rarely seen in melodeath. Compare Death and the Healing to another song please.

Also disagree. This one is not like a classic melodeath album. Actually, it's far from it. It has noticeable power, prog, even blackish elements. In one word, this is HEAVY metal. Pure gold heavy metal.

I really have no idea where you're getting this from, man. It seems pretty obvious to me that this isn't your average melodic death album...even if you don't like it, I don't see how you can deny how much influence it takes from other genres. I wouldn't even call this a melodeath album, since I think it takes as much influence from black and folk metal as it does from melodeath.

Wouldn't go that far. Melodic death and power metal are the biggest aspects I'd say. But yes it certainly extends well beyond melodeath.

I can see where Ken and where people who like this a lot are coming from. They've got a general sound of folk influenced melodeath but a lot of more subtle stuff going on that you makes them not quite just another melodeath band.

That sums it up perfectly....I think Jari's time with Ensiferum and their type of Folk Metal really gave this album a unique sound. And if any of you can find anything remotely similar to this then please tell me cause id be more than happy to find anything of this caliber.

Probably true :P. I didn't really think about it a whole lot before I said that...I do hear more black metal influence than most people do, I think, with the tremolo riffs, blast beats, keyboard atmospheres, and Jari's harsh vocals. I guess it's just me.

Sorry for bumping a 3 years old thread but this is one of my favorite album of all time and it deserve recognition as such.

This came up in 2004 and 6 years later i'm still not tired of it.

A pure fucking masterpiece of metal

Time can't come soon enough. That's if it's ever released of course....
