It's not for everyone. Their newer material has more of a wide-spread appeal while this release will only appeal to a certain type of black metal fan. It grew on me after about 3 listens so give it a couple of spins before you come to a final conclusion. :)

Will do.
Do you have their later stuff?
If yu do then please review them for next week. But no matter what don't review Tara.
That album has drawn enough attention imo. ABSU's 2nd and 3rd could do with more exposure.

All ABSU albums stand perfectly starting from Barathrum V.I.T.R.I.O.L. up to TARA which I personally find it as their BEST effort so far……Sun Of…can also be tackled as classic …..ah….simply put it , ABSU is nothing without Proscriptor…..like it or not..

can't wait for APZU !

you may be right there, he's an amazing drummer and seems to be the core of the band...

There's no denying that Proscriptor is an excellent drummer and as Misa said, he must be the core of the band, but this album is rather booooriiiiiing.

Want a good album with Proscriptor? Get: Melechesh - Sphynx

This album is definately one that grows on you... It took me awhile but now I enjoy it quite a bit...listening to it with headphones also adds to it, sense you are able to hear everything so much better...

If you like the death metal parts of their early work you should check out Magus (death/doom) and the first Absu demos when they were death metal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4QtgKsKyUw

Magus-Debauchery

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSOH2dj-70w

Absu-Immortal Sorcery

Great murky stuff.
