and this weekend they lost the lead to Real Madrid... sucks for Barça.

here's how the portuguese league stands, with one game to go:
FC Porto - 66 points
Sporting Lisbon - 65
SL Benfica - 64

if two teams are tied in a position, the decision is based on the results from the games between the two teams:
- FC Porto has an advantage on Benfica
- Sporting has an advantage on Porto
- Benfica has an advantage on Sporting

the last games:
- Benfica - Académica Coimbra
Académica secured their first divison spot this past weekend and have no real motivation besides winning against Benfica at their own stadium.
- FC Porto - Aves
Aves is in last place, but if they win they will escape relegation. some people think this gives them extra motivation, but for me it's pure BS. if that motivation crap was true then Aves wouldn't be condemned to relegation since the start of the second round. i doubt Porto will fuck up at this crucial match.
- Sporting - Belenenses
Belenenses secured the 5th European spot (direct UEFA Cup access) in the last weekend. if they win they can take 4th place from Braga, but other than that there's nothing else to win, since both spots have the same European access.

the best possible scenario would be FCP losing at home, Sporting tieing and Benfica winning, making the table 1. Benfica 2. Sporting 3. FCP, we would be champions and those northern fuckers would stay behind the Lisbon clubs, where they belong.
snowball's chance in hell of that happening, though, if you ask me.

Holy shit! Did someone see Stuttgart's 1-1 goal against Cottbus in the german league? One of the greatest goals I've seen in a long time. That's a once in a lifetime shot right there!

looks like a very good goal, but every camera angle on that video is shit. i can't believe they didn't show replay from the sideline angle.

btw, i think VfB Stuttgart are the new Bundesliga champions. congratulations to them!

as expected FC Porto won the Portuguese championship today:
1. FC Porto 69 points
2. Sporting Lisbon 68
3. SL Benfica 67

the Porto fans sang "slb filhos da puta" (literally "slb sons of a whore") after their victory. lol, they win yet they have to sing against Benfica. it's like they don't want to win, they just want to come ahead of Benfica.

Romário scored his 1000th goal at age 41, congratulations to him.

i think he's counting with friendlies and youth games, and a player like him doesn't need that mark to have a place in football history, but hey, if that's what he wants...

and on a separate note, i found this most awesome picture:

Maradona :dio: :dio:

900 goals is a lot, but mind you it's youth level. then again i'm not familiar with that, i'd have to see figures for other playres his age.

i trust you, like i said i'm not at all familiar with youth-level footie.

you haven't commented the Maradona pic, must be because it features 6 Belgian defenders trying to stop El Pibe :P

yeah, the game was nohing special, but then again those two weren't exactly the most exciting teams in Europe, save for a few players.

Milan won, a fitting farewell for Alessandro Costacurta.

As i mentioned briefly, i won the Flemish Final in the Defense Cup. It isn't the biggest of tournaments around but it is a great achievement for the team i play in (Olympia Wijgmaal, 4th division C). We played this final as a gala match during an Internation -15 tournament in Bassevelde. Teams of little 'uns of Real Madrid, Werder Bremen, Ajax, River Plate, Club Brugge, AZ Alkmaar, Celtic and many others, played this. I'll give a brief summary of the previous parts of the tournament:

Qualification group: place: First (4 on 4 matches)
Wijgmaal 9-1 Kesselo
Lovenjoel 1-2 Wijgmaal
Muizen 0-6 Wijgmaal
Wijgmaal 8-0 Bekkevoort
As the results show, not much competition here, mainly because the better teams in the group didn't turn out against us.

First Round of the Cup(Group Stage): place: Second
Wijgmaal 0-0 Stabroek
Zottegem 2-2 Wijgmaal
Stassegem 0-3 Wijgmaal
We played terrible in this part of the tournament, pretty much because we had to miss our 2 best players, an AM and a S.

Second Round: Wijgmaal 4-0 Haasrode
way to easy PERIOD.

Quarter Final: Tempo Overijse 0-0 Wijgmaal (3-1 after penalties)
hard game but that was to be expected from a derby.
Half Final: Wijgmaal 3-0 Merksem
Pretty much pwnage, although they received 2 red cards during and one after the game.

Flemish Final: St. Gillis-Waas 2-3 Wijgmaal

Great game, full of suspense: 0-2 at halftime, even though as our best player (the AM as mentioned previously) got injured. They got back to 1-2 after a penalty. Then we scored on a counter attack (1-3) and in the very last minute they got to 2-3 after an offside situation.
Here is a picture of the team playing the final with the trophy.

Image

So now we are playing the Belgian Final against a Walloon team in the stadium of Anderlecht, for about 15000-20000 people. Holy shit!

Oh and after the Flemish final i got offers to play for the youth of PSV, Ajax and Club Brugge :dio:
