Except for anger of the ancients, which is by the way a super song, the album is just so-so.
I would give it 64 without anger of the ancients and maybe 72 with anger of the ancients.
Good review. I like your comparison with iced earth.

Great band, great CD, and great review. :)

... I reviewed their previous CD, but don't think I'll get to this one. Still, it's good to see someone out there that likes this band as much as me.

Yeah this is good stuff. One of the better albums Ive heard so far this year. Insanitys Call and Our Last Hope are my favorite tracks at this moment in time.

What tha hell?! So you like OTT like this band but you are NOT going to get their new album, which even got a clearly positive review! What's the logic in that?!

Unless he meant that he won't be able to review it I agree that doesn't sound logical.

I've heard some of the songs and I do like what I hear so I'll be picking it up soon.

Sorry for the confusion guys....

I meant that I won't be able to review it, as I've got a pile of CDs to review and I already reviewed their debut.

I actually purchased the CD from Sentinel Steel about a month ago and am all set to provide a rating/comment for the Metal CD Ratings site's next update (scheduled for June 1st).
:D

That's what I thought that is why I gave you the benefit of the doubt.

This is a solid CD. It's a nice change to have an almost, dare I say, Doomish style singer in a power metal band, and I agree with the Iced Earth references, especially in relation to their older material.

That being said, I wouldn't say there are any killer tracks per say. However, the CD is filled with a lot of good to very good songs, my favorites being Anger of the Ancients, Our Last Hope, Insanity's Call, Fear Is Not Enough, and the ballad Strange New World. I can see this CD making my top 10 of the year.

What I like:

1. How the keyboards aren't overwhelming and are used mainly to create atmosphere.
2. Iced Earth influence (older material like the Dark Saga or Burnt Offerings)
3. Lower range vocal style with lots of melody.

What I don't like:

1. Sometimes the Chorus' are a bit of a miss, both when the guitar kicks in and the way the singer chooses to nail it (for a lack of a better term). In regards to the singer, I think this has to do with his deeper voice, which at times, can come off being too much in despair. I wouldn't mind some energy and force. At times, I feel drained when listening to him sing.
2. So so lyrics. One of the downsides of sounding like Iced Earth is that the lyrics will be analyzed more so (not intentionally).
