I won't rate the album, since I haven't heard the whole thing, but if "I Don't Wanna Stop" is any indication, it's a very boring and generic album...

Well, as trite as this might sound.....as a life long Irion Maiden fan I will never spend any of my money on any product with Ozzy's name or Zakk Wylde's name associated with it! I have no interest in subsidizing his wife's way of life or his children's for that matter. They are a disgrace, Sharon is a diplorable human being, and his children are an indulged blite on society.

We know what Sharon is all about. $$$$$$

She exploits Ozzy for all the money she can. I invite everyone to investigate the prices they're charging for the Ozzfest Ozzy packages/opportunities. It's sad.

Iron Maiden have never charged a fan to meet them or attain an autograph.

What is wrong with Mr. Wylde?? He is one of the best players out there.

I don't know if I should check this album, I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed Down to Earth. I'll think about it.

And I actually agree with everything Raven said, I just think Ozzy, as a musician is to me a completly different matter, and I tend to not associate it to what his wife or children do.

Steal the album off the internet then. Or not, if it isn't very good.

But it is going to be a free festival, so that saves you money to buy this cd.

Terrible album.....Ozzy should retire he looks and sings like my grandpa.
Great review, but I would score this much lower....

I liked Down To Earth as well...I think it was a pretty solid album.

Black Rain is worth checking out but you need to give it a chance. I started liking some of the songs after the third or fourth spin. However, it might wear on some alot faster.

A good album doesnt take three or four listens to grow on you. Hell usually if there's something truly great on it, you should know it by the end of the first listen. Second one is usually to just solidify my opinion. Three or four, now that's just too much, I you have to give an album four chances before you like it, then shit, I dont know what to tell you. Sounds like no one was really blown away by this album, so that puts it at the mediocre or less than mediocre range, in which case you should ask the question: Why even bother?

You're obviously not a Rush fan or a fan of prgressive rock / prog metal. Some of my favorite albums took several listens to finally allow me to see where the artist was coming from and start to really enjoy them. Albums that are instantly likeable tend to have less staying power and often get shelved more quickly. There are exceptions but you've probably missed out on a lot of great albums with a philosophy like that....

You have the attention span of a three year old.

Well said Marty....I had to apply your way of thinking to this release the same way you did with the new Rush. It's true. Some things that catch on quicker can also burn out alot quicker. I didn't want to force myself to listen. I just had to be in the right frame of mind and not in the mood to listen to anything else in order to at least give this album a chance.

Yeah, my impression on first hearing a lot of bands I love now was thinking they were interesting or just plain annoying.

When I like albums instantly its usually because they're similar to stuff I've already heard and because of that get old quickly.

Yeah, but at the same time I think good music has to have something to interest you, however slightly, from the first listen. If not, why would you bother coming back to it for it to grow on you?

This album needed to grow on me, now it gets regular play time.

That's true. Although sometimes its just been hearing the band praised so highly by people I just keep trying to like them again

I liked every Rush album after the first spin. I didnt need time for the album to "grown on me". That's a bull shit excuse for, "this album is really crap, but I like the band so much that I'm gonna keep listening until I find all the really subtle hard to find, minimal good stuff, and then talk about how I think the album is good to uphold the name of a band I love". So its basically bull shit. If there's nothing interesting on the first spin, even one or two things, then you've wasted your money and you are in danger of becoming a fan boy who touts every release as being "good enough for me". Mind you this is just an opinion, but I feel very strongly about this one. :D

Basically the same for me. There's the occasional album that actually manages to be simultaneously catchy AND have hidden qualities that you discover with time, but when looking at my list of favorite albums of all time, most of it is indeed stuff that did not quite click with me on the first spin. I'm a little more tolerant against 80's rock as for albums that lack originality, but the general rule of thumb is still the same.
