I disagree with the review ALOT. How can you give this album any less then an 80? Its definitly a different sound but in noway is it bad, every song is its own little masterpiece...what did you listen to it once got pissed off cuz your a Ecliptica fanboy and wrote this review? i mean if your a fan of music not just fast cheesy power metal you can appreciate this...Its def my top album for 2007 so far....i'd score it an 85/100. Took about 2 listens to get into it and now i cant stop listening, i suggest looking back into the album and not looking for 8th commandent over and over again. :dio:

So is he supposed to be a fanboy like Frigid and love everything that SA puts out just because SA puts their name on it that's a bunch of BS

The keyboard use is over the top and gets annoying especially the noise on the third track I really want to like this album overall but it's not happening give it 65/100.

Come on people! Sonata's new album isn't bad, it's simply different. Just when I was starting to tire of Sonata due to the lack of variety and inovation they release Unia and this is quite refreshing. Power metal gets stale after a while, due to it's simple nature. I mean, how different can one fast power metal song sound compared to another ?

I find this statement quite amusing, since Sonata has always abundantely overused keyboards... it goes with the style they play.

I believe in change but in a good way not that Metallica way(not saying they sold out though just changed badly).I also believe in that old saying "if it aint broke don't fix it" but still if a band wants to add a new sound so as long as they don't sacrifice their trademark sound and style then I'm all for it.

They still have their unique sound and approach to music on Unia.
Sonata's "core" sound is still present, they only changed the approach to it.

I also think the review's score is quite low. I never got into the older Sonata Arctica but this album gets quite often into my playlist lately. There are some really awesome songs in here but unfortunately there are some not-so-good ones too. I will repeat again that I've never been a fan of the previous SA works so my view and opinion is based solely on this album. For me it's a nice and solid album, with good performances and mature compositions that deserves some playtime. If it was not for some weaker songs, I'd give this a 90/100 but as it is now it falls somewhere around 80-85/100.

Anyone got the edition with the bonus track ?
I was lucky enough to get it and the bonus track "Out In The Fields" is a killer song. Those who heard it, what are your thoughts ?

I have no problem with lots of keyboards if it fits the song I just find on this cd at times what is played would be better left out as it takes away from the song.

As far as bonus tracks on the version I got the songs called "To create a warlike feel".

Is that a cover of the Gary Moore/Phil Lynott song? That sounds exactly like something they would do a version of...

I just heard Paid In Full, and I wasn't impressed. Ecliptica was an amazing album, but their other stuff didnt really impress me except for Reckoning Night, which I really enjoyed. Their ballads after their first album suck ass though, the lyrics are too damn soppy, and I like metal ballads if done well, like Kamelot's Abandoned.

It's not a matter of speed. There are no memorable song in here.
The few instances were something close to that is about to happen, too much stuff is going on and ruin the song. And it's not complex a la Cachopony or Blind Guardian's A Night At The Opera, it's just a noisy mess.

Not the progression I was expecting. The whole album (save for Caleb) sounds dreadful.

I disagree. The album takes some time to grow, but it can really be apprecciated.

I've given it countless listens. I can't get into it at all, I'm afraid.

I don't know what to say, then. I agree that they could have done without the amount of different tracks they did, but still, if you sort of get it it's really good.

Dude, if you don't like it then you don't like it, I just think there's a lot of potential in the cd.

No no, I'll keep trying. I didn't like Kamelot's new album at all, until I gave it a good deal of listening time.
