F-Zero GX is good but REALLY FUCKING HARD. if she's up for a challenge, though, she'll love it.

NFSU is also cool (imo it's better than NFSU2, although i didn't finish that one), but why not get NFS: Most Wanted? it's better and has cooler cars, and it's probably available 2nd hand now as well.

By the way, as I mentioned before, my girlfriend's getting into video games now and Racing games are her thing. I was wondering what everybody thinks of these two games:

F-Zero GX (GameCube)
Need For Speed Underground (PS2)

Both I plan on buying used sometime this summer.

F-Zero is fun, but as Azrael already stated, it's really F'n hard. it's more frustrating than fun at times.

Need for Speed Underground is allright. Most Wanted is the superior game in the series, but I see Underground for less than $7 everywhere, so it's worth a few bucks.

Most hardcore NFS fans that have played all games since NFS1 tend to agree that NFS:PU (Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed) was the best NFS ever in the whole series. I have also enjoyed NFS:PU very much, the driving model and physics were the most realistic compared to any that followed that were more arcade-oriented.
I also loved NFSU2 (Underground 2) but most people seem to hate that one for some reason so I'm not sure if I should recommend that. NFS:MW is pretty cool I guess, I just thought that it was too hard at some points especially during the career races when the catch-up was in full effect.
Another option which is quite hot lately is Test Drive Unlimited. PC multiplayer is a bit bugged for many, but I hear Xbox306 and PS2 users have no problem at all and are enjoying the game both in offline and multiplayer mode. I've been playing that game for over 2 months in the offline career mode (PC) and I can assure you that it's really realistic and enjoyable.

NFS:MW is too hard? i've finished literally less than 5 games in all my life, and MW is one of them (the career mode i mean, i'm still completing the challenges).

a question about the game, though. is it just me or is it impossible to load the BMW M3 into your own "my cars" list as well as modify it (performance-wise) in the career mode? kinda stupid, considering it's the "main car" in the game :/

Devil May Cry 3, really tough game, for the first time in my life i considered play a game on easy, gladly i didnt since im enjoying a lot getting my ass kicked on boss fights (and sometimes from regular foes), but i must say that the auto locking system blows someone should have been fired for not programing it right and the wierd camera angles doesnt help that much, apart from that the game is great.

Yeah, I can't do that either. I think it's because its already pretty much maxed out so there isn't really a need for it to be modified any further.

As for me, I've been playing FFXII. I'm stuck on the Judge dude whatever his name is boss battle on the ship (just after you break Ashe out). I can pwn his henchmen and take half his health away but then he starts doing 3 hit combos which pretty much take my dudes out in one go. :lame:

maxed out? with everyting at ultimate, most of the top-end cars (off the top of my head, the carrera gt, ford gt and SLR) can easily trash the M3.

another annoying thing is the "ready to save" message. dumbest message ever, like, srsly.

Isn't that around the time you get your first summon? I think I remember using that summon and owning the Judge without any problems.

...hardest game ever. If you have the special edition, that means you're playing on easy on the original version...if not, you're just playing it on really fucking hard. I never did beat it.

Im playing the regular edition on normal mode, are you telling me they made it easier for the special edition? that makes a lot of sense actually.

Yeah, they did. They also came up with a new orbs system that makes it easier to get back to your last checkpoint.

F-Zero GX.

indeed, the game is so hard in parts it becomes frustrating. the first 3 cups are generally good fu, though, it's the god damn diamond cup that blows.

I never played F Zero GX...

I had F Zero X on the N64 when I still had one, but it never really did much for me. I was always quite partial to the original on the SNES though. I still play that one on occasion.

i've never played the SNES version, but i have played X, GX and that GBA version.

F-Zero X on the n64 is pretty cool imo. the graphics are pretty bad even for the n64, but it's fast even with 30 cars on screen and the handling is better than on F-Zero GX. death race mode was awesome, wonder why they didn't include it in GX.

EDIT - oh yeah F-Zero X had a nifty heavy metal-ish soundtrack :dio:
