i've never played the SNES version, but i have played X, GX and that GBA version.

F-Zero X on the n64 is pretty cool imo. the graphics are pretty bad even for the n64, but it's fast even with 30 cars on screen and the handling is better than on F-Zero GX. death race mode was awesome, wonder why they didn't include it in GX.

EDIT - oh yeah F-Zero X had a nifty heavy metal-ish soundtrack :dio:

Glad to see somebody finally mentioning the F-Zero X soundtrack. That was actually quite cool, especially for an N64 game. Had a very 1991-ish feeling.

On the topic of soundtracks, I might as well add this to my "guilty pleasures in music" list: The San Francisco Rush (Nintendo 64 version) soundtrack. There. I said it. I like that soundtrack (especially Zethnos), and contrary to what a lot of people say there's really only one nerve-wracking song on it IMO (and anybody who's played the game knows which one that is).

Well, I guess I have been on a bit of a Need For Speed kick lately. I just picked up NFS Underground yestarday. Great game. I especially like how easy the cars are to control, as well as the beautiful nighttime scenary.

I also finally figured out how to get the old Need For Speed SE working on my computer (I just installed the DOS version through DosBox). Still a great game even after 11 years, with still-pretty (if hardly mindblowing by now) graphics and a kickass rock/techno soundtrack (boy do I miss those generic rock/techno soundtracks of mid/late-90s racing games, before licensed soundtracks dominated the whole genre). I highly suggest getting the game on EBay or Half.com if you have a fast computer and know how to run DosBox.

I have been playing lots of Crackdown lately. Great game, last night I finished off the first gang. And later today I may tackle the Russians.

I have also been playing and enjoying Forza 2. I'm not huge on sim racing games. (i would much rather play burnout) But Forza is very good.

Just beat "GUN" for the Gamecube. There aren't many western games out there, but it's the best one out there by far. Captures the western atmospehre really well, great voice acting, fun gun fights. However, the graphics seem pretty sub-[ar, and the game is way too short.

Just found out Guitar Hero Rocks The 80s is going to have Slayer and Dio in it :dio: . The Guitar Hero series are really the only games I play religiously these days.

Glad to hear it has Slayer on it, not much of a fan of 80's metal at all (although I'll still buy it).

Recently picked up Metal Gear Solid 3 again...what a fucking amazing game. Maybe my favorite game ever.

Starcraft, Starcraft, Starcraft and more Starcraft.

I've been playing this game since it was released 10 years ago, recently I found out that you can watch others play online on observer maps. I'm not really good at the game but this observer mode is really helping, and now I've started playing all day, every day.

I wish they'd show Starcraft games on TV like they do in Korea, that'd be awesome :P

Hey dude, what's your account? Mine is Karmakosmetika, I play on battle.net Europe though. I suck at competitive games, but I'm slowly learning the trade, and so are two of my friends (we got into it again with the advent of Starcraft 2).

EdgeOfForever on Europe. I basically got into it again because of Starcraft 2 too ;)

Finished X-men Legends. The end was a bit dissapointing. Though having a level as a space station on a meteor plummeting toward Earth and lots of destruction and fire and stuff is pretty cool.

I've gone back to SSX On Tour. Pretty kickass soundtrack: Dio, Maiden, Pennywise, Def Leppard, The Hives, etc.

Rented two games yestarday. Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Dragon Quest VIII. Mario Golf is a great game. Especially for multiplayer matches. Dragon Quest I haven't played yet but will play probably tonight.

Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness for the PS2, so far its pretty mediocre, awkward controls, boring sceneries and average story, the music is great though but i dont know what Konami was thinking, Castlevania is a big name for old school gamers, they shouldnt be putting games like this, Lament of innocence was a great game but nowhere nearly as awesome as Symphony of The Night, that franchise is slowly going down the drain IMO, im gonna keep playing it and see if it gets better but i doubt it.

I got a GameTap account today (happy 4th, btw, for all you Americans!). I got it mostly to play Sega Saturn games, which are just now being put on GameTap. So far, the two games I've downloaded and played are Crazy Taxi (for Dreamcast) and Bug! (for Saturn). I think I'll use GameTap to try different games. And then, if I like them, buy them (barring games I can't play on my PC or actual game systems - which I'll probably just keep).

Crazy Taxi = Awesome game. One of the best last-gen games ever made. I think I may pick up the PS2 version sometime.

Bug! = One of those games that was pretty cool when it first came out (it was, after all, the first "3D platformer" if I remember correctly), but now seems kind of lame. There's nothing really interesting about it except that you can move in four directions rather than two (which is actually a problem in some instances since often you can hardly see where you're going and then you wind up falling off a ledge and to your death - Bug can't even grab onto ledges!). The main character is another one of those "mascots with attitude!" that were common in the early-mid 90's. And the music's pretty awful. It's basically just a tech showcase that's waaaaaaaaaay past its prime.

Guitar Hero is for failures. How bout you drop that plastic shit and collect the money you threw away buying that crappy game and buy a 2nd hand guitar, AND ACTUALLY PLAY GUITAR!

I'm playing poker. I'm the bomb. I'll be rich.
