Got this yesterday, not listened yet, letting the tension build a little. One thing that I am disappointed at already is, having paid extra for the limited digipack, there aren't Karl's comments on the songs in the booklet as there was previously. I don't suppose the regular release's booklet has them...?
I noticed that too.A bit disappointing, after getting quite accustomed to it.If anyone can say please do.Maybe NuclearBlast talked em' into holding out on "special" features like that until they do a compilation special release a decade later.Nice avy dude!
I think 83 is a fair score and good review.I'm torn myself, they "used" to be my favorite band for some time now,and may very well reclaim that top spot someday. But my dislike for some of the songs on here, the lack of descriptons, the somewhat goofy artwork and theme, and just the lack of Karl's complete touch on the songs keeps me from getting into this cd.
Granted I'm a picky guy,but some things I really love about Nile and they aren't here.Such as a plethora of solo's and wankery, plent of variation in songwriting and a serious attitude towards the subject matter.A few songs have serious potential, but are just missing that special something, and often very repetitive and simple.I can't even give this a score if I wanted to.I'll still listen to it and let it sink in but this was a bit disappointing for me.Ah well, here's hoping their next more to my liking.
