Not at all. I am very aware of Islam, both the good and the bad. Unfortunately, the latter outweighs the former.

For the most part, they are just people trying to get by like the rest of us.

Yes.

It's partly the reason I'm not religious, as a lot of people on my mother's side of the family are devoutly religious, and rather intolerant. Then again, my father is a communist, so It's a wonder I turned out the reasonably balanced individual I did.

True. But I would rather have a secular nation of people trying to get by than a sharia nation where a bunch of people too bored with trying to get by blow themselves up. Oh, and a government that relies on an obsolete, violent, sexist text (just like the bible).

Winnie Da Pooh, once poob his pants. " oh no, i poob my pants", he said shedding a tear. " what am i to do?"

Then tiger came by " hu hu hu huuu!! Look, Winnie, look at me!"
Winnie Da Pooh couldn't help it, he laughed and he laughed. " aha ha.. you look so funny, Tiger!" he said. But as soon as had said it he felt a tingling sensation... and then warmth..

" oh no, my pee-pee peed my pants.", he cried shedding yet another tear. "what am i to do?!"

Then Roo jumped by. "Hello there, Winnie! How is it hanging?" he asked.
" I have had a terrible day, Roo" Winnie said, " i poob and peed my pants, it's absolutely disgusting"
" Yuark!" Roo uttered and puked all over Winnie Da Pooh.

" What on earth are you doing?!?" Roo's mother Kanga asked as she jumped by.
" Winnie peed and pooh his pants, mother, and then i accidently puked all over him!" Roo explained, felling a little embaressed.

" oh well, shit happens!" she replied, and then prepared to jump on her way home, but she miscalculated her first jump and landed on Winnie's head instead. " I'm so sorry, Winnie!" Kanga said. " oh no, i'm having my period today" and thus Wnnie da Pooh got all covered in menstruation blood also.

Winnie Da Pooh then pulled himself together and continued his journey home.
Then Winnie Da Pooh met president Bush. " How is going, ma lil' yellow teddybear" he asked all friendly.
" Not so good, sir! I peed and poobed my pants, then Roo puked on me and his mother menstruated all my face" Winnie replied.
" Oh, i guess it's your lucky day, huh?" the president said, " I only managed to poob my pants today!" [applause] " here, do you want a pretzel?" [ even more applause]

" uh uh.. Many thanks, sir" Pooh said with a smile. Later than night he ate it and died from suffocation. Then a bunch of lamas came by and spat on his corpse, and Lars Ulrich fucked Pooh in da arse due to his fetish for dead teddy bears all smeared in poob, pee, puke, and moonblood.

This is of course all metaphorical speaking. It is my take on the world situation.

" Yes, wow. Never though about that way! So God killed my wife and only son... Now i feel much better", the man said happy as ever... and when he got home he run up a small hill with his arms in the air. " I belieeeeeveeee... wooh0000!!!"

i was actually reading about Stoicism yesterday and it makes that viewpoint make a lot more sense.

I'm with Mintrude on this one. I have no belief, but I remain tolerant of people who want to believe that shit (goes for all religions this) because there's a lack of diversity and understanding of each other.

This may sound ignorant, but as long as my day doesn't get fucked over by holy wars (except the obvious Megadeth pun  ) and nukes don't get aimed, I'm quite happy to let those who do give a shit to carry on fucking each other up.

Why can't we all get along

American politics break down to this:

The Democrats are ineffectual twits.
The Republicans are cro-magnon Bible thumpers.

That's more like it.

And going back to that letter, it reminded me of that comedy routine where random bigot says to gay man, 'they should put all you fags on an island somewhere' and the gay says, 'guess what? You're on it!'

I thought the Founding Fathers were all atheist? Hence, seperation of church and state, ie America is an atheist country.

Anyways, you're all wrong. Cthulhu fhtagn, bitches.

The separation of church and state is more that the state won't choose a specific religion which gets it's support

For a second, I thought she said: "Atheists are the reason Croatian gang rape is rampant," which would be awesome. But then I realized she said "crime" like a pussy. Anyway, I agree with everything in that letter. Get the fuck out, atheists- and all people who believe in anything other than different sects of Christianity, as is implied in the letter.

Atheism maybe isn't as absolute as you think it is, and I would suggest that perhaps you're qualifiable.

Atheism doesn't include my position. I maintain that we simply can't know anything about the nature of any non-physical object, and can't be certain that any physical phenomenon is caused by something non-physical or an elaborate set of accidents. I love my box analogy, and I'll use it for now because my brain has melted from exhaustion and insomnia.

The non-physical is like a big, mysterious, impenetrable box. The contents of the box may or may not affect the outside somehow.

The Atheist will say - "there is nothing in the box! We have explained almost everything that happens outside of the box, and so far the evidence points that the box is not affecting anything, hence there is nothing in the box! The probability that the contents of the box affects anything outside it is negligible. FUCK YOU NONEXISTENT BOX CONTENTS!"

The Theist will say - "there is something in the box! There are still unexplained things going on, and it must be the box doing them! HAIL BOX CONTENTS!"

I will say - "I can't see inside the box, there might be something there, even if it isn't affecting the outside. There is no way for me to penetrate the box, and no other way for me to ascertain it's contents. As far as I can determine, me being unaware of the box contents isn't affecting my life negatively, and as such I don't care for the box. For tidiness, I will leave the box contents or lack thereof out of consideration in my thinking."

I'm tolerant as long as others don't try to shove their opinions down my throat. In my experience, my Atheist friends and acquaintances always took the opportunity to ridicule my Theist friends. I don't really care, I sit back and listen.

Well you're not racist but you're directing your hate towards a certain group of people, which is wrong. I think that the Arab lands are the shithole of the world too, but chances are it would be exactly the same without the religion. If you look at history you'll see that Arabia after Islam was even more civilized than the west, but something somewhere went very wrong and they are stuck in hundreds of years ago.

I'm certain that Islamic fundamentalism is so important in the ARab lands because they are a shithole, rather than them being a shithole because of Islam. There were big movements towards secularism throughout the 20th century but because they fell flat on their arse we ended up with people turning somewhere else.
