Half Nelson - Good performance from Ryan Gosling, but very slow film.

He is turning into a great actor.

yeah definitely, I enjoyed Half Nelson a lot even though not much happened in it.

Color Me Kubrick - Flamboyantly gay John Malkovich impersonates Stanley Kubrick to con people. The movie was focused more around his cons than any kind of plot... they should have focused on his motivations (looking back I can only conclude he didn't do it for the money and he didn't do it because he was nuts) or him coming close to getting caught or something that actually had a story. Felt sort of directionless, althugh Malkovich is amazing as always.

Tell No One - Nice to see a French adap of an American thriller rather than the other way around.

Black Xmas - Bonkers nonsensical pretty-girls-get-stabbed sillyness.

The shittiness of the film plus the screaming/chatting/luaghing teenage girls in the audience joiuned forces to make up one of the worst nights of my life.

Rescue Dawn - good movie about some American prisoners of war trying to escape from vietnam. It's cool that even though they had a big budget they were happy with keeping the movie inside the camp for the majority of its length.

I missed our brutal crappy-horror film takedowns.

Started watching Deadwood again. Great stuff.

Any good? I remember the game as being rubbish, but I quite like Timothy Olyphant...

Goldfinger

Sean Connery played Bond as such a badass. Dumping an electronic appliance into a full bath-tub after his adversary falls into it is classic cinema. Much better than the campy garbage Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan turned the franchise into. Bond isn't supposed to be funny. Nice to see that Daniel Craig feels the same way.

Factory Girl

Waste of time, aside from proving that Warhol really was a talentless twat. Very dull...

My week revolves around Sundays due to that show and mildly new Simpsons episodes.

The show is awesome and the books aren't bad either. Anyone into serial killers or odd antiheroes should enjoy it. The whole first season is out on DVD for real cheap as well.

Beowulf...severely disappointed. I nearly wept at the end, with Beowulf and his triumphant display with the heart.

But can anyone explain why my typing has gotten so sucky lately?

American Gangsta - Style: great / Substance: pretty good

Trekkies - Scary. Scary scary scary.

Horror films>Zad and Rad

:P

I recently watched The Mist over here. Fucking cool film, which I'd recommend wholeheartedly to you euros when it comes out over there. Begins very much like Tremors in tone (another great film), ie a small town being assailed in a predominantly humourous fashion by wacky monsters. But as you get closer to the end it starts to get progressively way, way darker, and it has a finale that is so grim you wouldn't expect such a mainstream film to have the bollocks to do it. Good shit.

Sadly the audience left me with more tales of misanthropic woe. I've never heard a group of people laugh so very, very hard at the use of the word "bitch". Furthermore, there was a comedian behind me. He was one of those guys that has to demonstrate that they find things funny to everyone by laughing with forced raucousness. Thanks, because god knows what I'd have done if I was unaware of your amusement level. Although, I was grateful to him for keeping me informed of potentially tricky plot developments. There was a point when someones lifeless mutilated torso was being eaten by a big spider. Thankfully any confusion about what was going on onscreen was erased by this dude going "Maan, that guy is dead!". And LOLing heartily to boot.

WTF, humanity?

I saw 30 Days of Meh recently, and I had a sports commentator next to me.

"Wee baby vamp-aye-ur" he noted when he saw a little girl crouched over a corpse drinking its blood.

"Right through the mooth and pull't the brain oot he's heid!" he helpfully pointed out after Josh Hartnett had, um, put his fist right through the vampire's mouth and pulled the brain out of his head.

Lots of that kind of thing plus various "he-hey!" "ooft!" moments whenever a bloody kill happened. Dick. If only he hadn't looked like he would have killed me for my shoelaces I'd have told him to shut the fuck up.

I am slowly learning to fight the tyranny of cinema talkers, I've now cranked up 2 shushes whereas once I was afraid to. The second one was rather more confrontational than the first. The first was just some kids who kind of smirked but did be quiet. Then the second time it was a whole group of women. I didn't want to shh, I just went straight for the jugular and said "Excuse me, can you shut up please?" At first they, rather unconvincingly told me that they hadn't been saying anything... My gf informed them we had, in actual fact, heard them, and thus the pwnage was complete.

"You Euros" What, Charles? WHAT!

Watched The Man Who Cried. Better than Jeff said, not amazing but decent film, great soundtrack, pretty good cast.

To answer your question Zad, hitman was pretty good. It could of been much better, but it had some cool moments especially when he kicked some serious ass.

Hostel II: first one was better. This was kinda lame, not mean enough.

Tremors: Not bad.

Mask of Wax (if that's even the english title, horror about a wax house with the Hilton bitch in it?): Pretty good, even though Paris Hilton bitched it up a lot.
