Pretty much agree with the review, except my rating would be 40-something. I still love their stuff up until Black Sun, but most of what they've put out since has been rather shit, save for SOME stuff of Seven Seals. The really strange thing is that "Everytime It Rains" I actually find the strongest track on here and the only one that bears repeated listens. Maybe they should pursue this direction and jump on the Within Temptation/Evanescence/Lacuna Coil bandwagon? Just kick out Ralf Scheepers and hire someone similar to Simone Simmons, write only songs in that vein and they could put out something pretty decent I think. The parts on this album where they try to sound like they did in their old days are just painfully uninspired.

Take the female vocalist off of "Everytime It Rains" and it's really no different than any other Primal Fear ballad.

I don't see what the big deal is with this album. I like it. Not amazing, but not the turdfest that so many claim it is. I will say that it sounds more like a Sinner album to me.

I think "Evertime it rains" is one of the better gothrock/metal tracks i've heard and had actually quite high expectations after listening to that track and after hearing Ralf praising this as the best Primal Fear album so far. It was a long time ago since I last listented through this. I think I only listened to it twice since there was not really any song that grabbed me. I could not put the finger on what excactly was bad, I guess it was just uninspired music. This is my second largest disapointment of the year after Gamma Ray.

I thought Seven Seals was outstanding, this however disappointed the hell out of me. Granted I haven't given it the play time it probably deserves but I just have no interest of listening to this album ever again!

Nothing really bad it's ok but I thought it would be better overall. Seems like the in thing now to have a female vocalist on at least one track not that that's a bad thing.

The songwriting is just weak. There are a few good songs in between, but way too many fillers. Especially coming after the excellent Seven Seals, this album seems very uninspired.

Yeah, it reminds me of Tears Of Rage and Seven Seals. I actually think it's the best song here, the duet with Simone works brilliantly.

Yeah, I agree with Mike and everybody else. This thing is a huge disappointment. Not that it is that bad but aside from a few tracks like 'Face the Emptiness' and 'Everytime it Rains' this album is just not up to par.

Though 'Black Sun' is my fav PF album I did like the direction they took with 'Seven Seals' and getting away from Priest sound and developing more there own. However after hearing this album I don't like what there own sound is evolving into.

I found Primal Fear put too much focus on the ballads here. It's become a new strength of theirs, but at the cost of energy and pure guitar power. It's this feeling of compromising that makes the album seem a setback.

I do feel the slow songs are done well, however.

Not a bad album, just boring...

I understand everyone's disappointment in this CD after the astounding Seven Seals release. However, it's still Primal Fear and it kicks the ass of the majority of other releases in it's genre! :dio:

Ralph's voice on Sign Of Fear is incredible.

I like New Religion a lot. :dio:

Overall, nothing special about this album. I was quite disappointed. That being said, I'd have to say that "Face the Emptiness"'s chorus is one of the best PF choruses ever.

i wanted to like the duet more, but it feels just very...cookie-cutter-ish.

I really like the duet but that's because I'm such a fan of Simone's voice ( as well as Ralph for that matter). They could sing Winter Wonderland and I would probably buy it.
