Most people get that eventually. If you keep your 360 somewhere where it gets a lot of air and generally just be careful with it, it should last you a long time. I've heard of some people having to return their 360s over 10 times, luckily the newer versions are less likely to get the RRoD.
One of my really good friends who is a huge game / computer aficionado told me what usually happens with the red ring.

Basically, he said that the main chip is held in place by plastic supports. As the system gets hotter, the plastic does what plastic does at high temperatures and melts, causing the chip to fall out of place. He sent his in a while ago, and found out that they just gave him a new one, since he made a mark with a red marker somewhere on the console.

If that is indeed true, that is ridiculous on the part of whomever designed the console. Most plastics melt around 90 F, or 32.2 C

From what I read it isn't plastic. It's soldering done with falty materiel that when it heats past a certain temperature it cracks and contacts get out of place.

I'm not sure what it is, but they've supposedly "fixed" the problem. That doesn't explain how some new consoles, and even Elite consoles have gotten the RRoD.

I have a wireless modem for my X-Box 360 (Microsoft's official wireless modem, actually). And, unfortunately, I get A LOT of lag when playing games over X-Box Live. In fact, Doom on XBLA often cuts to the title screen after playing it on XBLA for how long because of all the lagging. I don't get this kind of lag when I'm downloading or surfing the X-Box Live Marketplace. After playing my 360 a certain number of times, the modem also tends to come somewhat loose. And I have to take it out and reinsert it for it to function again.

Does everybody have this problem, or is it simply a problem with my wireless modem?

S'not coming out over here for months yet. At least I'll have time to get a 360.

I got WipeOut for the PS1, the original God Of War for PS2, and Yoshi's Island DS for the Nintendo DS. This will definitely keep me busy video game-wise.

Call of Duty 4. So cool. Made it to First Lieutenant in multiplayer.

When I was getting my 360 hooked up for X-Box Live, the guy at FutureShop told me that hooking your 360 up for wireless interenet is a bad idea because it will be really slow. So I bought an 80 foot chord and I have little lag problems.

Baldur's Gate II.

I almost forgot how much better the interface for this game is. Baldur's Gate was an awesome game, but BGII's interface just shits all over it.

I got Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 for Christmas. I beat Call of Duty 4 single player mode yesterday so I'm gonna start Bioshock and also start Mass Effect, which my brother got. I also want to pick up Oblivion again since I stopped playing it and it's fun as hell. Also, Call of Duty 4 online...I'm a bit overwhelmed. Haha

I've been playing MOH Airborne for a few hours now and my overall conclusion is that it's a very decent game, however not as good as it could have been. For some reason the gamy always lags when i jump out of the airplane so i always land in the middle of german forces so that's kinda gay. The rest is great though, cool levels, cliché sometimes but fun, sniper rifle ftw!
