the "plain" FE came first.

it's very similar, the only difference that i noticed was the supply thing:
- you can only buy stuff by actually having the unit move into the armory/vendor during, and said unit can only carry up to 5 items, the rest is sent to your merchant if you have one. there is no "world map", at least not at the stage that i quit playing, you move automatically to each level so there is no "visit store" command.

i ended up sending someone to the stores just before completing a level and stocking up on vulneraries and weapons and the like.

- there's the merchant, which is a bit like the supply convoy but different - it can be accessed by anyone, but you have to be standing next to your merchant (who sets up a tent in each level) to take/give items.

you can manage items before each battle just like in SS, but that's the only thing the system has in common with Sacred Stones, as you can see.

if you don't find it that big a deal then you'll like Fire Emblem.

Sounds pretty cool. I don't remember using the store that much in Sacred Stones anyway. One of the issues I had with SS was that it was way too easy. The knight that you had with you from the beginning of the game became insanely overpowered and you could basically beat every map with him alone.

Gilliam? he was strong, but being a knight his movement was shit and he didn't grow much with me because he never made it to the frontline in time. my frontline was Ross (trained to Berzerker), Franz (trained to Great Knight), Duessel and Seth. add that dragon girl thingy and those five alone could almost clear levels by themselves.

it was a bit too easy, but it was great fun imo. i wish it had different objectives, instead of just survive or kill everyone or kill the boss.

the only annoying thing was the item stuff. you could have, say, 1 Steel Lance taking up a slot and 20 Steel Lances taking up another, but couldn't join them.

Ah, I meant Seth.

Anyway, I just started playing Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis for GBA. It's looking really great so far and the reviews I've read have been good, you should try it out if you haven't already.

i got the rom a few years ago (i'm sure it was a Tactics Ogre game anyway) but i deleted it, although back then i guess i wouldn't have liked Fire Emblem either.

i remember that even the side that you were facing made a difference, though, that could be a bit too much detail for me.

i also tried FF Tactics, but that looked just waaaaaaaaaaaaay too deep.

edit - and oh, Seth. i thought you meant Gilliam because his class is a knight, but looking back the only guy who's there from the start is Seth. and yeah he's really strong.

Yeah, Tactics Ogre is very detailed compared to FE. I tried FF Tactics for GBA but it wasn't really what I expected. Compared to the original FF Tactics for PSX it's pretty bad. Anyway, so far Tactics Ogre is a lot like the original FF Tactics, which is one of the best games I've ever played and personally I like all the small details that make a big difference, no matter how bad you're doing in a fight there's almost always a way to take advantage of terrain, weapons and abilities to to turn the fight around. The leveling and class systems are great too.

Picked up a couple old fun PS1 games today: Crash Team Racing, Ridge Racer Type 4, and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. Was shocked to find the Oddworld for only 4.99 and in good condition.

Then I bought Jeanne D'Arc which is an amazing rpg/tactics style game for the PSP made by Level 5. Level 5 is quickly becoming one of my favorite developers. Dark Cloud 1 & 2, Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy and now Jeanne D'Arc. All of this company's games I would rate above a 9 out of 10 except for the first Dark Cloud which was still an awesome game and an amazing debut.

I almost bought a PS3 today. The 40 gig for just $400. I was seriously considering it, seeing as how my 360 is broken and I can't find a Wii anywhere.

And another day of Rockband hunting, and another day of failure.

400 dollars ain't a bad price for a PS3, you could easily pay half as much again over here.

What level is that? (numbre wise)

I got that two. Its so good! I was a bit dissapointed with the single player, did it in a couple of hours, but the online play is amazing! I been playing for a bout 3 1/2 hours now online an got to level 8. I'm quite happy with that coz i normally get my arsed kicked badly playing fps's online. I've even won a game :omfg:

One thing that annoyed me a little was when the SAS guy said depot like a yank. After that you just know its an american putting a bit of a silly 'cockney' accent. But it doesn't make a difference, still an amazing game!

I'm totally hooked on this game, i'm on level 50. It so hard to level up, need nearly 5000 ep to get to the next level :omfg: . Any one else find themselves aditcted to this game lol?

Definitely, although my friend borrowed my 360 for a few weeks, I'll soon be back online. I'm around rank 25-30 I think, I'm really looking forward to getting the P90, I use the AK47 with the red dot sight right now, easily my favourite weapon.

I love the AK. But the AK 74U is better, its pretty much the same but you can move a lot lot fast with it. And yes! The p90 is amazing! In fact i think the only bad gun in the game is the m14, that really is a terrible gun.

The AK is terribly powerful when you leave off the silencer. I played it for a while to get the challenges. I'd say it's the best automatic rifle with the exception of the M4.

The AK74u I haven't tried yet, except when out of ammo. Pretty good all-round submachinegun, I think.

The m14 is pretty good, don't know where you're coming from there. It's a one-shot one-kill weapon in Hardcore mode, absolutely devastating.

I'm level 55, and have thus completed leveling up. Now I'm just doing some leftover challenges. A silenced P90 is what I use on my main build, with UAV Jammer, steady fire and RPG-9 as perks. Hilariously powerful on maps where you can infiltrate with ease, such as Bloc and Overgrown. Other than that I've got a machinegunner build with an m60+red dot sight, deep penetration (god that sounds bad), rpg-9 and something else, and a shotgunner with m1014+foregrip, deep penetration and extreme conditioning.

I'm getting to be pretty good. I mainly play team deathmatch on big servers, both regular and hardcore.

I would rather use the g3 as a one shot kill then the m14. I think the reason i hate it so much is that its by far the hardest gun to get those first 25 kill before you can get the red dot. Its almost impossible to use without it. It took me bout 9 games to get those first kill :omfg: . I really don't like that gun at all!

I never rly use the uav jammer, i go for claymores, extra bullet damage and myrterdom. I change guns a lot. but the ak74u, p90, m16 and any of the light machine guns are all top class.

You sinper much?

Yeah, I use the G3 too. High capacity never hurts. Pretty deadly on Hardcore too.

I like the UAV jammer in combination with a silencer, makes you impossible to track. Needless to say, in Hardcore mode I usually leave it off. Martyrdom is for dicks, by the way. Too easy to get kills from it.

I'm playing now, do you want to meet up on a server?

screw you guys!

i dare not buy it now in the middle of my exams, and either way it's like 50-60€ in Portugal, and i'm ready to bet it's far cheaper in England, where i'm going in february.

Cost me 60€ here in Belgium as well. It's sold everywhere for that price, I think.

i guess i just assumed because at least in consoles they truly rip you off. in the gamecube's dying days you still couldn't buy Wave Race new for less than 40€, and for example my cousin bought PES 2008 which is pretty recent for 20£, when it's 60€ in Portugal.

Believe me, CoD 4 is worth its slightly higher price. After you've completed the thrilling but extremely short singleplayer campaign you'll say, whaaaaat. Then you log on to multiplayer, and everything changes. It's magnificent. You can customise your 'character' a bit à la role playing games, so you have stronger and weaker combos, but it all still depends on skill. There's not a single bug to be found, everything runs as smooth as a baby's bottom. Maps are varied, there are heaps of fun team objective games, lots and lots of weapons and a lot of personal skills make this the game to forever eclipse Counterstrike.

but price issues aside, buying it now, during exams, wouldn't be a very intelligent move. i'm very easily addicted to new games and stuff.

i'll get it in february.
