I've managed to sort out my Wii problems (turned out I hadn't said what country I was from: Derp!) And I'm looking to get some virtual console games. Any suggestions? I don't have a classic controller yet.

I think you can't do wrong with the SNES trio of Super Metroid, Link to the Past and Super Mario World. And throw in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 because its awesome.

And you don't need a classic controller by the way- Gamecube controller works just as well for SNES games, and are a nice cheaper alternative.

without a classic controller you can only play nintendo (Nes) games, i believe - the Snes, Neo-geo etc requires more buttons.
... I personally downloaded Super MArio 3 and Kirby's adventure for the nes- played those alot when i was a child. I hope they will release Double Dragon 1 and River City Ransom one day.

for the Snes... well, there a lot of games worth downloading i think.

Okay, so I was wrong. Mega Man X Collection was not my next game purchase. Yesterday, I traded in Luigi's Mansion for Silent Hill 2. I have to admit, SH2 definitely gets off to a slow start. And I'm finding all that fog in the town to be more annoying than scary. But surely it will pick up eventually, right?

I think that's the only SNES game I actually enjoyed playing.

Still haven't finished Circle of the Moon because I started playing Parasite Eve on a PSX emulator. Great game so far, unfortunately my computer is shit, which causes a few problems.

Like I said, you can use the Gamecube controller instead of a classic controller- and if you never had a Gamecube, you can their controllers second hand for quite cheap, instead of forking out 40 bucks or whatever for a classic controller.

it's awesome!

it's a 2d sidescrolling shooter, you just go ahead and shoot everything that moves. i played the first MS and MS2, and they're both killer.

it can get quite hard, though, and i can't finish it without resorting to infinite lives on my emulator.

btw, get a newgeo emulator.

Can you tell me where to find such an emulator for Metal Slug? I've been looking all over for it. Awesome game that cost me quite a lot of money in the arcades of my youth.

I can't get any rom to work on win kawaks, don't know what I'm doing wrong. Would anyone mind to send me some Metal Slug roms that actually work?

check this out!
http://www.rom-world.com/dl.php?name=MAME&letter=M

you'll need the Neo-geo bios to make the games work

while you're at it, you could also try to use a different emulator. Most games works on Mame Plus (depending on the version)

http://mameicons.free.fr/mame32p/

go to download and then under "Binary" dload "VC Binary 0.122u6" from one of the 4 sources.

Thanks, but I figured it out yesterday late at night. Downloading some working roms as it is, rom-world is very slow though.

Now, can anyone remember this arcade game: a hack & slash side scroller in a fantasy setting, where you can play a barbarian, an amazon and a dwarf. Plenty of mounts as well, à la Metal Slug. Can't remember the name, sadly.

yes... isn't it the good ol' Goldenaxe? there's 3 of them, but the first is the best, imo.

you could also try Dungeons and Dragons: Shadows over Mystara and the other D&D

Anxiously awaiting the days till my asian copy of Lost Odyssey arrives in the mail.....Seriously guys, if you have a Xbox 360 and like JPRG's, buy this game. It looks to be one of the most epic RPG's i have ever seen. The story seems so very engrossing to me.

An epic tale of a warrior that's been cursed to live forever and has to somehow deal with this. imagine that he has to watch his friends and loved ones die while he stays behind forever. Forever living, forever suffering. The game starts 1000 years into his life and while the story progresses you unlock his memories in the form of narrative text. I read the first story today and i almost cried because of the sadness of his memories.

Sorry for raving on so much about this game, i just want to play it so badly.

Oh and btw. This game is made by the brains behind Final Fantasy if that's of any interest. Hironobu Sakaguchi, I Hail Thee!!

Yeah. What's your best score so far? My best normal ratio is probably 85-30, standard game type, on Overgrown. I also once managed to infiltrate all the way up the map in Ambush and score 21-0. AK-74u ftw, I ditched my p90 for it and I ain't going back.

i dunno if i'm buying CoD4 after all... it's a realistic shooter, and i'm not into that kind of stuff. i never liked Counter-Strike, for example, and the FPS i played before this was Enemy Territory, which is very arcadey.

What? I've only been playing Team Deathmatch so far, and it's hella fun. I guess I should try other game types, but I just started so I'm just going to try to get at least decent before I start doing other stuff. I use the beginner sniper, more powerful and accurate than the next two that you can unlock.

"Good eye, sniper...I'll shoot, you run"

(Co&Ca reference. On a side note, my friends and I are always saying that...)

Yeah, I was talking about TDM as well. I only play TDM, I'm used to it from other games, and I find it the most fun. By 'infiltrating' I mean: bypassing the enemy team's rushing players by rushing to their spawn points yourself, to take care of the enemy snipers. It's a difficult tactic but very rewarding, I've racked up lots of sprees with it. It's best illustrated on the cargo ship map, you can rush up one side of the cargo area and then take hold of the bridge and bug everyone from there.

I don't snipe, still find the whole breath system very annoying.
