lol, Portugal had their asses handed to them by Italy, who played like true champions. Italy are my favourites to win Euro 2008.

i know they're world champions and all, but Portugal was still pretty fucking disappointing. Scolari showed what a hypocrite/idiot he is by calling up Maniche and Deco after warning that players can only be there on merit and not on reputation. go figure.

then Ricardo, who has been giving away goals on almost every match (and gave away another one last night), is still the first keeper when Quim is saving Benfica from humiliation every other match. go figure.

Ronaldo tries to do everything himelf, but as good as he is he alone cannot take on the world's most organized defense. then they insist in playing for the strikers when our strikers are... how should i put this.. complete shit?

Ronaldo in my opinion is just trying to be another Zola, except for the fact that Zola was a way better team player.

they want to play matches abroad!

from a business point of view it's a very, very intelligent decision, imo, but other than that it reeks. modern football sucks.

who played as centre-back, Azar Karadas?
that guy used to play at Benfica. in 2004 we played Rosenborg away, and Karadas scored once or twice, and following in our policy of buying people who score against us (this is no joke, Benfica has bought some 3 or 4 players like that) in practice back then, we bought him. Azar also means "bad luck" in portuguese

i remember at some game in England the guy had a scoring oportunity and managed to kick the ball out of the stadium.

no not him... Pah Modouh Kahg. BLARGH!

Azar is a good player, but hasn't been able to adjust to the environment in all his different clubs.. he is a nomad. Just like John Carew, which finally has settled in Aston Villa. Azar is in SK Brann right now and helped them to their first championship in 43 years.

As Michel Platini commented on the issue
"You don't have an Eglish coach, you don't have English players, and soon you won't have English clubs anymore. It's a joke."

Anyway MAN UTD LOST!!!!!!!!! HARHARHAHRHAR!!!!

I think Anderson played better. In a split second he's up just outside the Gunners D box. Arsenal played like they still had yesterday's shit still stuck up their ass. And why the hell would you play Traore in a game against a strong team?

But what the heck Liverpool? I feel like throwing all my 3 jerseys out the window.

I actually made a vow never to wear the jerseys on their matchdays until they beat at least 2 teams out of the big four........in one season. Looks like it's not gonna be this season. I'll stick to wearing them for evening footie at a muddy pitch.

I'm not sure that's a genuine comment or something sarcastic from an Evertonian :P Anyway you guys are doin pretty well in Europe, I see. I just hope Rafa's able to turn things around ASAP.

Anybody who rotates the team is definitely doin a big mistake. Many times Liverpool have played well in a match, but then Rafa switches a few players for the next one, ending up with poor results. I understand he has many star players to please but he has to think for the team's benefit. If the present team plays well, keep them. Why mend something that's not broken? If some players are unhappy that they're not getting much game time, ask them to work harder or show them the back door.

This is probably the reason I have so much respect for Sir Alex over other managers. He's a strict disciplinarian. Whatever he visuals, he materializes them. There's no room for underplayed players to whine because he is after all, the iron fisted Blowdryer. He makes sure each of the 11 starters earn their places the hard way. There's no room for slack on his team.

I personally feel all managers should look to Sir Alex as a mentor. They HAVE to. With the amount the players are paid these days is just pampering enough. Make them slave for every penny they earn.

As much as I'm embarassed to admit this as a Liverpool fan, it's the truth. Man Utd are the best team not because they have great players, but instead they have the best manager in town.

well, remember that a star player is more likely to look up to a manager like Sir Alex because he's garnered insane respect from everyone in the football world. unless you're a "star coach" like say, Mourinho, Ferguson, Capello etc it's very hard to just tell the player to fuck off and try harder next time. i guess it's also down to personality but it's very hard to just pretend to be that very dominating person, and most people aren't that kind of person.

that said it's one thing to play unhappy players every now and then and another to have straight-out rotation. it may be good to keep certain players fresh for the big matches, but on the other hand it stops players from building form i.e. if Man U rotated, do you think Ronaldo would be so devastating this season?

Well, Sir Alex does rotate a bit too, he has actually said that he likes to rotate around the foundation of key-players in the team. But he uses it rarely now, it seems.
