Requiem for a Dream - 10/10

Heartbreaking. Almost made me cry in the Uni library.

Yeah, I thought it was awful too. I must have posted something here filled with warnings but I'm not sure. It was even worse than their previous parody movies. I'm just glad that I watched it streaming on the internet and saved money, disk space and bandwidth.

That's one of my all-time favorites f'sho.

In class we watched Ladri di Biciclette. Great movie.

Rise Of The Footsoldier - British gangsters are so much more entertaining than American ones. I've been wanting to say 'you soppy cant!' to someone ever since!

Sweeney Todd. Very good, didn't know johnny depp could sing. But the melodies got kinda boring.

Hatchet - pretty humorous. Fairly gory. I liked it. Watching the extras, I found out that Kane Hodder is a juggalo. Ewww.

The Deer Hunter - Awesome.

10,000 BC - A bunch of crap. They could have just made it not take place on Earth and it would have been a little bit better. Make it epic fantasy, not alleged historical fiction. In the course of their travels, they go through Nordic mountains, which happen to be right next to a jungle/bamboo forest, which happens to be right next to a desert, which happens to be right next to some plains, which all happens to be right next to Egypt. Also, mammoths and the Egyptian civilization coexisted in the same time, and within one tribe, there is a white guy, several black dudes and an arabic guy. As part of the same group of people. I'm not terribly educated about 10,000 BC, but I don't think people moved around that much. Also, I don't know where people got all of their makeup and perfect hair in 10,000 BC. Throw in some shitty picture quality, shitty dialog, scenes/themes ripped from 300, an awful Hollywood ending and Emperor fucking Palpatine as the Egyptian pharoh and you have one clusterfuck of a movie.

HAHA!! Now that is a review. I still want to see it, but now I think I'll hate it too.

I agree with most of this, typical cheesy Hollywood history that pales even in comparison to some other recent films of that genre. However, I really don't think it was meant to be alleged historical fiction. Anyone with a fully functioning brain should be able to figure out that it isn't historically accurate.

5/10 - not recomended.

Haha, I hope you're right in both regards. If it was meant to be historical fiction...well, that's bad. If people bought it as such...even worse. I guess I would have been appeased had they called it something else. Putting a year on it puts it in our world (or does it? I sense a twist coming on) and, I don't know, that irks me.

The Libertine - Johnny Depp's portrayal of a character genius but stubborn, apathetic, and self-centered is ridiculously good. 2nd time watching and imo it's awesome (I think i didn't like it as much the first time :X)

The Darjeeling Limited -- Good movie. Lots of nice camerawork and dialogue.

then...

Akira -- What the fuck just happened? Shit got real obscure. Goddamn. My brain feels boiled.

I hated Owen Wilson in The Darjeeling Limited, I almost had trouble watching it because of him. Anyway, Akira was one of the first anime films I watched because it's supposedly the best, I really didn't get what was so great about it though.

Some anime films that I've enjoyed are the Studio Ghibli films, especially Whisper of the Heart and most of Miyazaki's films of course.

I loved Akira. It was so gritty and it just grew and grew into something completely out-of-this-world. For the last 30 minutes, I was essentially mesmerized. I'm still at a loss for words.
