Hehe... I have nothing to do at work and was reading through the early stages of this thread.... I think this post is one of my life's high points so far.

You're working now? Where?

Somewhere out there, an elderly man waiting for a hip replacement is cursing your name...

I bought a packet of chewing gum today for the first time in a good few years, after being turned away by the stuff about it giving you stomach ulcers. Of course, it's great, and I can now pretend I'm Denzel Washington!

It depends what brand you are talking about!

Anyways, i chew way too much chewing gum, probably 7-8 hours a day... Especially when I can't smoke.

Steve Bell of the Guardian is my favourite cartoonist, he is a true hero of British journalism. (non-Brits probably will not get what this is a reference to)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/cartoons/stev ... 94,00.html

Godamn I'm not sure why but the idea of having to pledge allegiance to the queen makes me angrier than pretty much anything else this government has ever done. Maybe because it's easier to get annoyed about things which are just stupid and insulting rather than horribly immoral.

Anyhoo, that's not the point of this thread... post count +1 lol!

Seriously, fuck Brown. Everyone was relieved when he got in simply because he wasn't Blair, but he's going ahead with all the same dreadful policies, including ID cards...

PC+1!!

What's with the recent focus on Britishness? There's an unpleasant air of nationalism around it. Everyone knows that having a Union Jack in your garden makes you look like, at best, a jingoistic twit, and at worst, a full-blown racist.

So my moanings about crisps and insulting the Prime Minister make me a nationalist, do they?

Ignore me, it's been a long day. I thought Mint meant the 'recent focus on Britishness' on this forum, for some reason.

What I should have said was something like 'blame the immigrants' but that would only have annoyed you and given you more ammunition for your 'Zad's going right-wing' beliefs...

So, I'm doing a talk on what I'd put in Room 101. Can anyone find some particularly reprehensible quotes from the Daily Mail to help back me up?

I'd go to www.mailwatch.co.uk. Shouldn't take long to find something to use. Also look through the forums.

It's a bit late now, being 21.35, but you should try today's, which I saw in Morrisons. Had a huge front page banner for an Alison Pearson all about how she personally blames that dead girl in India's mum for what happened to her.
