The PS3 is a gigantic smouldering failure of a console.

I'd still rather have one than a Wii. At least the PS3 has Blu-ray. I dunno, I just don't know a single person who still plays their Wii, including my best friend who is (gasp) a woman.

No it isn't.

I still play my Wii. Once I get the new Mario Kart and Zelda I'll be glued to the tv.

Wasn't too impressed by the new Mario Kart, which is a shame because I have a SNES + Mario Kart sitting in my bedroom and it was my favourite game growing up. Maybe it's because I skipped 64 and Double Dash. Brawl is the best game on the system by far. RE4 is worth trying out I suppose, but it's not that good a game on any system.

I have a Wii but my 360 trumps it.

I love how NO ONE remembers the slow starts of the PS1/2 and how they turned around with huge titles, exclusives, and other such things that makes a PS2 still a top seller today.

It'll happen with the PS3. Give it time. Calling it a failure is a huge joke.

As far as exclusives:

Resistance: Fall Of Man
Ratchet and Clank Future
Haze
Warhawk and it's expansion
UT3
Time Crisis 4

Are all great. Also if you look at the future lineup, there's going to be some really solid shit coming out. If you enjoyed the PS2, there's no reason not to end up with a PS3 at some point.

Also the PS3 has plenty of the multiconsole releases. The 360 doesn't really have too many more exclusives that make it any more solid of a buy. I sold off my 360 out of boredom with the consoles exclusives and end up with a PSP ( Which I own more games for than I did my 360 ).

It depends on taste... But I grew up with everything but Sony until I had a PS1 during highschool and recently a PS2 2 years ago followed by a PS3 purchase and then a trade in of my 360 for a PSP. The amount of titles I've owned on Sony consoles far trumps that of what I've had on any other.

Before selling my PS1 I had over 40 titles, mostly exclusives, with my PS2 I have almost 60, mostly exclusives, my PSP I have 10, all exclusive ( Still working on buying more titles I've missed ) and for my PS3 I have what I mentioned above and I've sold a couple exclusives. Just give it time and the library WILL blow up to be huge. If anything that's been proven in the past two generations of Sony's home consoles.

The PS3 also just has so many other features outside of being the best blu-ray player ( and still the best blu-ray buy, and argue it if you want but DVD will go the way of tape soon enough ) including PSP remote play, the PSN and soon the home feature. It's just really going to blow up as a console in the next couple years in my opinion.

But that's just my opinion.

:: shrug ::

Aight, lets not turn this thread into fanboy wars. Each system has their great games, each system has their bad games, and each system has their weaknesses. X Box 360 may have more great games for all I know, but hey, I'm damn happy with my wii, and many seem to be happy with their PS3s.

That's actually a good point. I remember how, for a while, the only real remarkable exclusives the PS2 had were Tekken Tag Tournament and SSX. There were a lot of people slagging it back in 2000/2001.

But you need to also remember that, during the 2000/2001 fiscal year, the PS2 had the huge advantage of having no real competition. The Dreamcast basically flopped, so the PS2 pretty much had the entire next-gen market to itself for a while. Twisted Metal Black (God, I still love this game!), Gran Turismo 3, Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2. All were released before the X-Box and Gamecube systems were even released. So the PS2 was able to steadily recover from its initially bad press and build up an excellent gaming library before it even had any real competition. The PS3, meanwhile, already had to compete with the X-Box 360 and Wii when it came out. So recovering from initially bad press probably won't be nearly as easy with it as it was with the PS2.

Actually, I'm one of the people who says "The PS2 had a slow launch, too", but there doesn't even seem to be much on the horizon for the PS3 outside of MGS4. Third party dev support sucks, and by now the console war is running out of steam, so exclusives aren't such a big deal and most things are going to be multi-platform releases.

The PS3 confuses me. Why would anyone pay $600 for a paperweight?

I also love the fact that they're trying to pass it off more like a computer than a game console. They should take their heads out of their asses.

The 360 confuses me, 20% of the systems (give or take 0%) die and the fans pass it off like its no big deal.

The Wii also confuses me, apparently Nintendo passed on graphics in favor of inventive controls and I love the fact that people are passing shaking a controller to press A as inventive.

See how this works? As Brahm said each system has its strengths and weaknesses. Right now the PS3 is my favorite console, its very similar to the 360 but the features are more towards my style of gaming, as in, free online gaming, Built in Wi-Fi, a system that still works after almost 14 months, Blu-ray movies once I get my kickass TV, and when I shower my PS3 washes my back with my pink bath puff and it feels magical..

Really though man, its stupid to say shit like "Why would anyone pay $600 for a paperweight?" because I've been having a blast on my system.

When I was Wii hunting, I almost bought a PS3. Then I realised what I was doing...

I'm just throwing my opinion out there, not trying to start any wars or anything. :P

Depends on what you call the horizon, I guess. It took several years for the PS2 to take off and it still sells today and has new releases. It's on a 8 year run and Sony plans to have the same happen with the PS3. The PS1 also had such a lengthy run as a home console.

Also remember what little competition the PS2 had to start with as well, though. When I see good third party support for the PS3 as well as exclusives, I'll change my tune. I side with whatever is most useful to me, and the only system with anything interesting to me is the 360. I have little interest in MGS4 having already beat three MGS games, and the few other exclusives like Drake's Fortune aren't system sellers.

I somewhat agree. There's nothing on the PS3 that interests me yet, except for CoD4, which I already have for the much superior multiplayer machine the Xbox 360. I am excited for MGS4 and FFXIII though and I think the PS3 is worth getting for those two games alone.

I recently got a PSP and I'm in love with it. Between lunch breaks and the traffic jams I get stuck in, it's been a lifesaver. It's got kickass RPG's, the Syphon Filter games, etc. Good stuff.

As for the Wii, my brother has one and I have alot of fun with it when I visit, but I doubt it would supplant my 360 if I had one in my house.
