Well, we won the Scottish Cup. That's 2 trophies, a European final and we took the league to the final day. Not a bad season really even if it did almost completely unravel in the final month.

after a dismal qualification round, we finally got round to playing some good football, as one would expect from a team that boasts Cristiano Ronaldo, Simão, Nani and João Moutinho (i can't believe no one ever talks about him, he's another product of Sporting Lisbon's academy) in attack and Pepe, Bosingwa and Ricardo Carvalho in defense. there is much more teamwork and they all worked much harder than before. i approve.
again, Portugal showed that they don't need a great striker (Portugal hasn't had one since maybe the late 80's) to show results.

a note for the defenders - they were spot-on tonigh, Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe were all over the place and very secure, while Bosingwa wasn't beaten once the whole game. with Bosingwa and Miguel, Portugal has arguably the two best right-backs in the game, while our centre-back duo is also world-class.

there's still room for improvement and i don't trust Ricardo very much (he's only good for penalties, imo), but i'm feeling much more positive about the team than i was during qualification.

i didn't watch the Swiss match, but i wanted them to win if only because i'd rather see the Czech Republic go out as soon as possible.

Shame about the defeat... Ah well. We were the better team. Poor Frei, though, that really sucked... And the dubious un-called hand contact made by a cech defender during a swiss offence... He even said himself that he expected a penalty. Bloody referee....

Behrami impressed me alot... So did the rest of the Swiss team. I never thought they would overrun Czech Republic like they did.

As for the Portugal match, it went as expected. Pepe impressed me alot.

Stupid coach! France were the team to beat. And we couldn't get one lousy goal opportunity, we played highly defensive, we played for draw. What the fuck are they thinking? You cannot qualify from that group with 3 draws. Now Italy will eat us alive, and by the time we face Netherlands (whom we beat in qualifiers) we'll probably be already eliminated. Lack of guts will do that to you.

I am not so sure about Italy. Everything is going to go terribly wrong, it started to get bad with the loss of Cannavaro, but it's going to get worse.
