And Mercenaries 2, Fallout 3, NHL 2K9/09, Spore, TimeSplitters 4, new James Bond, Call of Duty World at War, Gears of War 2, Mario Sluggers (I need to give myself a reason for dropping $600 on my Wii...), The Conduit, and Prototype.

Will be a good year for games/ers. :)

I am looking forward to Gears of War 2 as well. I also forgot to mention that Ninja Gaiden 2 looks great as does Tomb Raider : Underworld.

Went back to playing Final Fantasy IX after a two year hiatus. Much, much better than VII (in terms of gameplay), which is overrated as fuck.

Alas, it's the last great game to come out of Square-Enix.

IX is probably my second favourite FF game after VI. I prefered the less grim and emo story line I guess :D.

I'm playing Starcraft just now, and I fear an PC upgrade'll be due for SC2 coming out.

I, too, loved FF9. I liked the less serious and more upbeat storyline (as opposed to FF7's rather grim/dark storyline and FF8's awkward attempt at a love story). And I also liked the return to the medieval Lord Of The Rings-ish environments of FF's 1 through 6 (although FF6 did start to break away from the classic medieval tone with its Magitek armory and slightly more industrial setting).

As for Starcraft 2, let's just wait and see. Blizzard's one of the few PC game developers who's usually good about not making their system requirements too ridiculous. May be my 2007 desktop with an NVIDIA Quadro 560 will work just fine, even though it was too slow to run Bioshock with all the graphical detail.

I do love VII, but IX is my favourite of the 3Ds. FF VI is clearly the best though. I agree that the fact that IX had an upbeat main character as opposed to an emo worked out well.

Hahaha Cloud is not an Emo, but i do agree that Zidane was a great character, VI was great because of its amount of awesome characters and great stroyline, XII would have been my favourite of the 3d FFss if only the main character didnt suck so much.

Though I really liked Cloud's backstory, his whole "look how much of a silent, brooding badass I am" thing got pretty annoying at points. Except for if you manage to get a date with Barrett at that circus, in which case it was hilarious.

I've been buying a lot of games so far this summer. I just bought one classic PS1 game and one not-so-classic game for the same system: Crash Bandicoot and Pandemonium. The latter I was interested in playing since it first came out back when I was in eigth grade. Probably because I thought it was interesting seeing some of the 32-bit games at the time trying to mimic the Nintendo 64's then-revolutionary style of graphics.

FF VII is amazing. It's tied with IX as my favorite. Although, I really don't know why people always call Cloud "emo." He never struck me as such. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not even picking up on the "brooding badass" thing. In the beginning, sure, but later on, not so much.

There is an awesome new Star Wars Force Unleashed video. I just watched it, and oh my does this game look awesome. I loved the KOTOR series, but this game looks to blow them out of the water.

I think I like VII the most because it was the first one I played, so I have this nostalgic type of love for the game. Otherwise I think FFX is technically the best one, I just don't get that warm nostalgic feeling out of it. What I remember most about IX are the side-quests, I loved the whole treasure hunt thing, and the card game was incredibly addictive, the only real letdown was Ozma, there should've been atleast 2 more insanely hard Weapons.

Also, I think XII is unbelievably underrated. It has got such an MMORPG vibe, I love it.

Oh and I never understood the hype for VI, I really don't think the story is that good, it's very typical for an RPG.

I dunno, VI had an big plot twist in the middle and then went into a basic sandbox in terms of how you finished the game. It also introduced a new theme to RPGs that wasn't that common (Steampunk/Industrial as opposed to the standard fantasy/medieval). Maybe you should try it again ha ha:P.

One thing I didn't like VII and X due to the fact that the characters in battle became basically the same in terms of what they could do, though XII is probably my third favourite even though it does the same. VIII just annoyed me with the magic/GF system. I really need to get a copy of IX again though.

Also, joy for the Chrono Trigger re-release :D!

Been playing ridiculous amounts of Oblivion since summer started. Character update:

Level 25
Head of Thieves Guild
Head of Dark Brotherhood
Head of Fighters Guild
Divine Crusader
Champion of Arena

...and I'm working on the Mages Guild right now. Then I'll start the main quest

I've grown tired of spending way too much money on recent XBOX/360 titles. So in an effort to maximize my entertainment dollar I did some researching on Gamespot and decided to find some games for my original XBOX that I missed out on that are now dirt cheap in used bins. I picked up 9 games for the price of one new title...here they are:

1. Soul Calibur 2 ( The Spawn fan in me had to have this one)
2. Gun
3. Oddworld: Strangers Wrath
4. Ninja Gaiden
5. Jade Empire
6. Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders
7. Mortal Kombat: Deception
8. Painkiller: Hell Wars
9. Crimson Skies

Please feel free to comment. I still have a list of others I'm looking for but I think I'll stay busy for a little while with these. :)

+1 on that. Not on the Half-life 2 part...

And Raven, Gamespot is a pretty shitty site as far as game reviews go but Oddworld is a pretty sweet game. Ninja Gaiden is supposed to be good as well, but I've never played it. I've heard of all the others but as my memory serves, none of them were really supposed to be great games.

Can you recommend a good game review site? Gamespot is just where I've always gone to check things out. So, you have some background info on me, I'm not a real serious gamer. Don't get me wrong, I love playing video games but I'm a player who wants to have a good time but not spend my life working through a title. Some of my favorite games are Halo (all of them), Darkwatch, Star Wars Republic Commando, Gears of War, Indiana Jones & The Emperor's Tomb, Madden Football, TombRaider, Bloodrayne 2, Castlevania titles, Devil May Cry titles, and fighting games. I'm not a very big fan of RPG's.
