Brazil - not worth watching, imo.

for me the weirdest thing about the mainstream comedians who mostly make bad movies (i have them on at work sometimes, they're not awful but i'd never sit down and watch one myself) is that they can be good actors (Will Farrel in Stranger than Fiction, Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine, Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love), they just don't most of the time :\

Exactly. They'd rather churn out the populist shit, and fuck them for that.

That's taking them too seriously...they're comedians that make stupid movies that are funny. Why would they try to be great actors? It's this kind of criticism that's annoying because it completely misses the point.

Yep, so the Dark Knight is fucking awesome. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time, and one of the few movies thats kept me on the edge of my seat for two and a half hours- hell, even halfway through Fellowship I looked at my watch. Outstanding acting from Ledger, but the entire cast, and especially Bale and Eckhart, deserve kudos.

what? it's so.. long-winded.

it had good stuff, obviously, but the nonsense and excessive bureaucracy could have beem accentuated. the darkness and general claustrophobic feel of the surroundings made me a bit uncomfortable as well, but that was probably intentional.

EDIT - saw Inside Man which was pretty good. not "omfg unforgettable" but definitely a movie to see if you catch on tv.
also i saw the last 10 minutes of b52 with nicholas cage and i have to ask this - am i the only one who dislikes him? dunno why there's just something about him that makes me hate him.

The Dark Knight is great. One of the very few movies I would consider purchasing when it comes out on DVD. The story is as dark as it is complicated and the action scenes are unbelievable. Ledger's performance made The Joker seem truly insane.

Wow, IMDb is fucked up. The Dark Knight has got a 9.6 rating at 7000 votes. I'm guessing it'll drop to about 8.9 after the top 1000 voters vote it down. Still, that's crazy, I haven't seen the film but come on, it can't be that good.

Holy fucking shit. The Dark Knight has climbed to 9.7 and is #1 on the top250 at 23,000 votes. That's insane.

The Black Book - good dutch movie about a lady spy who seduces a Nazi general. the concept made me think of Lust, Caution but the two movies are pretty different (The Black Book had a lot of ground to cover in just over two horus while Lust, Caution was moar about teh characters). both have lots of boobies though :D

The Godfather is overrated anyways.

Wall-e is no. 22 so that isn't saying much. IMDb does do a good job of ranking but newer movies always rank a lot higher than they should.

I feel so inexplicably calm and good-willed. What song was that they were playing during the credits?

I usually have decent taste in movies, and my favourite genres vary. But I must say I have a huge weak spot for majorly cheesey old love stories. aka. Pride and Prejudice. Easily one of my favourite movies, makes me bawl everytime. I just finished "Becoming Jane". I cried, SO HARD. hahah

Yeah, but what's crazy is that it has such a high score at such a high number of votes, it's very unusual.

I think a lot of those votes are from kids who haven't seen the film but really want it to be good because they've been talking about how fucking great of a movie it's going to be. And of course there's people that want to keep it away from the top10 that try to vote it down.

My Left Foot - Daniel Day Lewis is so damn brilliant. The movie itself is not that great. I think if it was made at a later date with a higher budget it would be amazing. The supporting cast was not all there in terms of performance either. Lewis however, is simply brilliant.

Caddyshack 2. It actually isn't as bad as they say it is. The original's better, of course, but the sequel was still pretty funny.

Part 3 maybe, but no way are the 1st two movies overrated.

dunno. personally i didn't like part 2 either - the vito corleone parts were really good, but couldn't stand the michael ones.

part 1 is obviously one of the coolest movies ever.

Yesterday watched Seed of Chucky, probably the funniest slasher flick I've ever seen, at least because it was intended, rather than because the acting is so bad it's funny.
