And lastly, I am quoting an American news source which says exactly that a candidate's eating habits is a factor. Why is that 'a British thing'? Christ, man, America is the most important country in the world at the moment, why the hell can't we take an interest in what goes on there? If you visited this website more than twice a year, you might realise that the major cause of arguments about America isn't the overweight, bomb-dropping stormtroopers of death, it's you overreacting to what people on an internet forum say. Grow the fuck up yourself.

I don't need you or anyone else to point out that the US is in sad shape, but the funny thing is, nobody points out that this trend of decadence is a WESTERN CIVILIZATION trend... no, these threads are always a one-sided monologue started by Brits, Canadians, etc.
I have yet to see a thread started by an American pointing out other countries failings.
Taking an interest is one thing, but saying that is what is the only thing going on is an insult to everybodies intelligence.

There is no difference; they are both blanket statements directed at a sinle group and both can be (arguably) backed by internet data.
The only difference is a superficial one defined by what is PC.

Oh, come on V. Blacks are a race, Jews are a race. Americans aren't a race, Europeans aren't a race. You could make an argument about white european aryans, but it's missing the point; 'Americans' and 'Europeans' are generally used to mean people that live in America/Europe. Whenever I use the word 'Americans' I take it (and thought everyone else did too, it's common damn sense) to mean a significant amount of the American population. It's not meant (at least I don't mean it as that and I apologise for not being clearer if this is what's getting you worked up) to mean ALL AMERICANS EVERYWHERE. I think Noodles just meant to start a thread discussing this link saying that Americans are fat, and ironically called it what he did. All I've been saying is that in general, the average American seems to be more overweight than the average Euro.

As for the Facebook, a Metal Reviews group started there recently and someone idly speculated on whether you have one.

Who cares that a whole bunch of Americans / Europeans / etc. are fat? Other than the social causes (longer commutes, lower wages, higher cost of living, ever more hectic schedules) which result in this phenomena, that is.

Marion Jones, the guy who won tour de france last year(don't remember his name), NFL players in particular, NHL players. Testing for steroids is pretty much never done over there. pretty much every powerlifter who claims to have the world record etcetcetc.

I am not defending anything, least of all the overall health of the US; if you were half as smart as you think you are, you couild see that I was pointing out the fact that the thread is total bullshit, since other Western countries are right behind the US... like I said the difference between us and the next country on the list is less than two slices of bread.

Seems like the discussion has gotten pretty deep and as I'm a lazy Scandinavian I haven't read it all. But "Americans are fat selfish pigs"... Fat yes we all know that, but selfish? Hmm could be. Yes I do, I've been studying both drug and steroid abuse for the last year in college.

Diane Williams and Evelyn Ashford is additional examples. Marion Jones' ex-husband. I could mention many more. What makes you think that the US basket and baseball-team doesn't use steroids/drugs for their preparation? Of course they won't do it in the Olympics, they'll get caught. But as I said, doctors and medical staff doesn't seem to have a problem with signing a prescription for steroids. As I stated earlier, drug and steroid abuse is rarely tested in the US.

And does the US completely dominate the olympics? nah. And definately not the winter olympics.

And what the hell. What the hell is the point of discussing athletes if you can't discuss all of them? Including the ones not participiating in the olympics.
