Dude, seriously. Did some guy wearing an Overkill shirt beat and rape your mother at knifepoint, or are you just that much of a dick?

Dragonforce's music has all the substance of saying "this sucks" on the internet, and it doesn't deserve anything more than that. (why aren't they banned from making music? ) their albums consist of them seeing how many times they can take the same hook, melody, structure, and MarioKart guitar solos and play them at the same speed before their fans start to catch on. in an astonishing display of humanity's patience, some people are still entertained by this formula on the band's fourth album. (then again Nickelback's fame has lasted over half a decade, so maybe it's not that surprising.) their lyrics, like their music, would be laughable if there was any evidence of effort being put into them, but they seem like a humourless parody; Dragonforce has the feel of a joke band that was never funny and who's popularity has made the band continue making music for far too long.

I really like DragonForce but they are by no means the second coming of Metal or anything like that. Trust me, I'm quite aware of what the whole schtick of this band is and I'm pretty sure they are too. These guys don't take themselves seriously at all (have you looked at the cover art for this record?) and they know what kind of music they're releasing.

I've said this so many times and I'll say it again: As long as the songs are good I couldn't care less if they sounded the same. And if they were all different then I would be fine with that too, as long as they sound good to me. Don't get me wrong, I know most people want variety and obviously DragonForce will not be the band for them and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I know the naysayers are tired of this argument but I really do feel their rising popularity has contributed to the hate they get. There are so many lesser known or indie bands whose songs sound the same but noooooo we can't say anything bad about them because they're not sellouts or featured in Guitar Hero games!

He gets a hard on everytime he speaks negatively about thrash or people who like it.

Yeah, I guess you can say that.

Or it could be that Dragonforce haters are normally thrash fans, and truly have no room to talk when they say Dragonforce are repeating themselves, when bands like Tankard are releasing the same fucking album over and over again. It's silly and hypocritical.

true, although it's more that lesser known bands's names aren't brought up so i'm not constantly reminded of how much i loathe them

At least, Tankard has a set of ten songs they repeat; Dragonforce has done the same thing nine times an album for the last four albums.

I don't see how that helps the thrash side of the argument.

I like how you chose Tankard, pretty much openly attacking me.

I can listen to Zombie Attack and then put on The Beauty and the Beer (or any album in between) and it does not sound like the same 10 songs being repeated, or the same one song being repeated over and over again like Dragonforce. This thrash hate is just stupid. Go away you troll.

Also, why is there a thrash side of the argument? You are the one who started the thrash ahte again. Just like you do at every chance you get. As soon as somebody says they don't like something and you know they like thrash, it means that they are dumb. I think you are the one who is pretty dumb.

Because thrash is quite possibly the most mundane genre out there. It refuses to change, because if it did, it would lose its rabid fanbase, who also refuse to change.

I did not imply that you were stupid. I am implying, however, that you are hypocritical in your hatred toward a repetitious band.

I don't not like Dragonforce because every song sounds the same, I don't like Dragonforce because I simply don't like Dragonforce. Call thrash and it's "ignorant" fans what you will, but bringing up that in this thread is dumb. You do it all the time, and it's getting very annoying.

Because there aren't any death or black metal bands that continue to do the same things that's been done for the past two decades.

Did you ever stop to think that "retro thrash" is a counter movement against what thrash became? Thrash became groove and groove has deteriorated into metalcore so retro thrash strives to return to its roots, maybe a little too much in your opinion.

Also, the fact is that classic thrash will always remain just that: classic. You can't get tired of listening to Megadeth or Slayer because the 80s albums were awesome, as well as some of their recent albums. However, my point is listening to say, Reign in Blood, SoH and SITA in a row does not give you a feeling of repetition, and if it does, it can't compare to the fucking sameness of listening to all the Dragonforce albums one after the other, barring perhaps VOTD.

Well, I'm not going to say that it doesn't get a little bit old listening to Slayer for 4 hours in a row (I have done it, and it eventually kind of fades into the background because the songs are sort of repetitive) but I will say this much, I can listen to Slayer longer than I can DragonForce!

Well now, that's fine and dandy. But there's a fine line between returning to ones roots and lacking any identity at all, and that is exactly the problem with this 'retro thrash' movement. They want to be like others, not themselves. That's where Dragonforce has them beat.

How come DragonForce have a record deal and we don't?? Fuck that.
Irony aside, this album is boring as fuck.

Because they've been around longer. Also, they didn't start out popular; they were just another band on MP3.com. Then they got big.

Maybe your band will go the same route. That way, everyone can take a piss on you for suddenly being popular.

I don't see why everyone is using the "they're popular"-argument against people who dislike them.

Dragonforce is the perfect "love-it-or-hate-it" band.
