duke nukem 3d? it's actually coming out?!

Yeah. In the next 20 years or so.

You guys are mistaking Duke Nukem 3D with Duke Nukem Forever. 3D came out for PC in '96, and is coming out on XBLA later this month. Forever is perhaps the most notable vaporware ever, and has been in development for going on 11 years now.

Duke Nukem Forever is actually looking really good, and it actually seems like it'll be out soon.

Agreed, but I'm not holding my breath. Anything that's been in development for that long almost has to fall short of expectations. I'm still not even convinced they're ever going to release it.

Oh, right. Whenever I hear the name Duke Nukem I get pissed off.

Chances are that it'll be out before Chinese Democracy though .

I was going to buy it last night, but I thought I would save my money until reading reviews. Well, it got shit reviews so I think I will pass on it, it's a shame cause the demo was so good.

NHL 09 is the greatest sports game ever.

NHL 2K9 is good, but it sucks for them that they had to compete with 09 this year. 09 can't be beat.

Interestingly, Duke 3D is coming out for XBLA on my birthday. Guess that will be my B-Day present to myself. :)

I wonder if it will be the Atomic Edition or the original without the Plutonium Expansion. The version of Doom on XBLA includes the extra episode from Ultimate Doom (Thy Flesh Consumed), and being that Microsoft has increased the file size cap on XBLA, there's no reason why 3D Realms can't just give us the entire Atomic Edition.

Who listens to game reviews anyway, i don't trust game reviews anymore because many of them don't know what the hell they are talking about, getting facts wrong and outright lying in some cases. If you liked the demo and thought it was fun, i say you should buy it. What if SWFU is fucking awsome and you missed out on a great game because some random reviewer did not like it. Alot of people liked this game. If you look at metacritic, the user rating lies at 7.8/10 that's pretty good if you ask me. I guess what i am saying is that, don't listen to the reviews, make up you own mind.

Finished Crysis recently. Epic game. Epic. If you have an Epic computer to play it with then it's a complete blast.

Gimme Crysis: Warhead now!

Depends on how much you trust the reviews. I know Gamespot's reviews really well, so I always know what to expect. Like with The Force Unleashed, it only got a 7.5 after having had all that hype surrounding it, it can only mean that the reviewer was let down by the game, and it tells me exactly what I'll love about the game, and what I won't. Same thing with Spore, massive hype, low score. Yeah, I consider 8/10 a low score, because when a game has had such a build up of hype, and doesn't even get a 9.0, there must be something really wrong with it.

The only review I've really had a problem with was Assassin's Creed. It got 9/10 despite being a terrible game.

And yet 09 is basically 08 with Be a Pro added with a few more things added like puck protection and stick lifting moves.

I'm really hooked on Be a Pro, I started of in the american league on a third line and now i'm on the Flames top line playing with Iginla! Really thrilling to see your player progress, it's basically a hockey RPG.

I probably trust game reviews more than I should. For example, I really enjoyed the demo for Crash Of The Titans. And the game still earned lukewarm reviews. IGN tends to be my most trusted site, since I usually find their reviews to be the most in-depth and detailed. But I'm also a fan of Gamespot. It's also interesting to check reader reviews on Gamefaqs, even though some of them have their facts completely wrong.

I'm going to agree, though in this case, I think the reviews have it about right- two hours in, its been very fun, but it has some very basic problems that could have easily been fixed and which would have made the game a lot better- most notably the camera, which seems to always focus on the inside of your skull, and which gives you no way to reorient it behind the player. It always amazes me that developers, 12 years after the great camera work in Mario 64 and the phenomenal Z button system in Ocarina of Time can't handle action adventure camera.

But yes, it really is goddamn fun to lift up a stormtrooper, electrocute him a bit, and then throw him out a window.

IGN hasn't failed me once. wasn't gamespot accused of taking bribes with that Kane & Lynch game?

Yeah, I heard about that. I don't really know all the details, though.

Gamespot gave Kane & Lynch a really terrible score, like 4.0 if I remember right. The review was pulled from the site for unknown reasons, but according to rumours the company that created the game (Eidos, I think) had paid Gamespot for ad space for their game prior to the review's release, and supposedly had forced Gamespot to take down the review, or be taken down themselves, lol. Anyway, the dude who wrote the review got his ass fired, and everyone went fucking crazy and threatened to leave the site. Gamespot lost a lot of cash, around 100k dollars, or something like that because so many paying subscribers left and joined IGN. Of course, Gamespot denied the rumours about the reviewer being fired because Eidos told them to, but nobody believes them. That's basically it.

Oh, and supposedly the review was pulled down, edited, and put back up, because the review is still on the site.

So I'm going to start playing WoW for free on a private server soon. I haven't played a video game in a few years basically since HL2 came out. I may or may not like WoW.

My friend tried to talk me out of it and compared WoW to church; you put in a lot of time and money and you don't get much out of it. Hopefully since it's free; it'll be fun for a while.

It is fun, I'm not sure what your friend is expecting to "get" out of it. Private servers are a really bad idea though, WoW is not a single player game, and no matter how much solo content you have on the server, the experience is all in the community. My advice is to buy the game and an extra month or two of game time and you'll be able to do all the fun stuff there is to do, and depending on how much you play, be able to max out your character level. It's definitely worth it, especially if it's your first time playing, it's a great experience.

I've never really understood why people are so against the monthly fees, I mean some people go fucking crazy because of it. It's not that bad, and you get way more fun out of an MMORPG than you do a non-MMO. That being said, I don't really get the people that keep playing after having maxed their character either. Playing 1-60 for the first time on WoW was some of the most fun I've had with a game ever, after that, it was just torture.

Dee-elled Hitman 2 and tried it last night, made my shitty graphics card crash and fail. Putting it down to 640 x 480 or whatever got it working, however. I'm officially a mass murderer.
