There's a lot more to it than that, but most of it is impossible to understand if you don't read about it first. I think it's a great film no matter how much of it you understand, and if you want to learn more about the film (the tangent universe, the manipulated others) you can, but it's not necessary to know about all that crap to enjoy the film. I think it's similar to Mulholland Drive in that sense.

Exactly. Zad, I'm laughing at you right now because you think you understood the film because you figured out that the plane went back in time. Although nobody would know it unless they looked it up, there was also a whole other deal about how Donnie was a prophet with some supernatural powers or some shit. I dunno, it's been a long time since I watched it/looked it up.

That being said, it's still a very enjoyable movie.

Well forgive me for not caring about a movie's subtext that is only known to IMDB forum-dwellers, and that makes no difference to the film itself.

Good point.

Although it still shows that you didn't get the whole movie, despite being Mr. Awesome-Krieg Movie Watcher.

Whateverrrrrrrrr.

chillax Zad.

You Don't Mess with the Zohan

Everybody said how stupid this is, for me that's what made if funny. Not Sandler's best, but it had some lol moments. I love the part where the yes-man is saying how his aunt loves to go see Zohan because not only is the sex good but he's a good hairstylist. Then he gives "Mr. lets get ready to rumble" that look. Priceless.

Donnie Darko, awesome, if a bit confusing. 8.5/10

Tell me what happened in the movie. Without looking it up on Wikipedia.

:P :P Yeah, it took a bit of arguing between me and my bro for a while, but basically the whole film is what he sees will happen if he decides to not go to bed and live, and basically he then decides to let himself get killed by the crash so that all the deaths and bad stuff that happened in the film because of the people's connection to him will be avoided.

Tropic Thunder - sometimes hilarious, sometimes downright retarded. 13/20, probably as good as it'll get for comedies anyway.

Why?
It's been on my list to see since it came in the theaters.

I thought that was funny as well. WAY better than Talladega Nights, Semi-Pro, etc.

I know it's all opinion, but I wouldn't say WAY better. But in the same league. For me anyway.

Saw it a while ago. Depressing. Watch another film by the same director called Dead Man's Shoes, much more awesome.

30 Days Of Night

I liked the concept, and the tone was cool too, kinda like black metal, gr1m and fr0stb1tten. Nice gore as well.

8/10

Yeah, you're right, I exaggerated...but it was definitely way funnier than Semi-Pro and at least a bit more funny than Talladega Nights, although TN did have some funny parts, unlike Semi-Pro.

La Femme Nikita - Great French action, which means there's a bit of action and lots of other stuff. Still, Jean Reno = :dio:

I saw that one a few days ago, and that's pretty much a perfect one-sentence review :P

Mamma Mia - 5/10 my family pretty much forced me to watch this, but it really wasn't that bad. The cast is nothing short of spectacular, and I have a soft spot for musicals. And Jesus Christ on an inverted stick, Amanda Seyfried!

December Flower: i think i'm going to watch Mamma Mia
my sister saw it twice, and my (female) friend said she had to restrain herself in the theatre else she would start dancing right there.

also this weekend i'm probably watching "before the devil knows you're dead". great reviews.

Well, I won't try to stop you, just brace yourself for an unhealthy dose of estrogen and more cheese than a 90 minute Rhapsody song. It works very well as a feel-good film though, and the acting is very good.

I like to imagine that Donnie Darko was a movie about a young boy who went crazy, got his girl killed, shot some guy then imagined that he fixed everything. but that's impossible so the movie would be like what he's thinking from his padded room.

lol

+1. That is one of the most ridiculous (in a good way) movies ever.

Not a movie but I've started watching Heroes again. Very entertaining show.

I watched Semi-Pro with my friend the other night and I laughed like an idiot, where he just sat there almost forcing a laugh. Now he has a problem catching things in movies, but I guess not everybody can be a Will Ferrel fan. I just like the pure stupidity of it all. The jive turkey scene is so dumb I can't help but crack a smile.
