Love this band and this album! Just like their last album this is my album of the year. Angel Dust and Nevermore are great comparisons. Two of my absolutle favorite bands so it's no wonder i like Communic so much. Now this is the kind of metal I like. Super heavy and crushing yet still melodic with real singing vox!

Stone Carved Eyes is truely one of the best metal songs ever!

Now if only Angel Dust would ever come out with the album they are supposedly working on and Nevermore gets it in gear the metal world will be a better place.

Good Review, though this gets a 95 from me

Glad you like it! I prefer Communic over both Angel Dust and Nevermore myself.

I'm with you, though I'm pretty sure our thoughts are in the minority...
:D

I like this CD a lot, but favorite from them is their 2nd/previous CD.

Heard Scariot btw? Steinsland's former side-project?

Heck, I'm in too! Although the only stuff I've heard is the myspace pages of those bands... So far, Communic beats the shit out of the other two. I might have to get an album by them. Think I'll start with the debut, and just see how it goes.

BTW, nice talking to you on MSN, metalxxx! :dio:

Nevermore are totally better than Communic. I mean, duh.

Still, the latter aren't bad at all and I might check that Angel Dust lot out, think I've heard the name before.

Yes, I have all of their CDs... solid band, but I think Communic is better.

I was quite impressed with the new Scariot... it reminds me of Katagory V.

Awesome album from this great band. I honestly prefer the first two over this one but an average Communic album still kicks the ass of many other bands' best. :dio:

Agree with all of you---love Communic, and this album is great. I think the comparison with Nevermore is a little overstated in general . . . there are some very surface similarities in Stensland 's and Dane's voices, and both bands have progressive elements and thrash elements, but in execution they are pretty different. And, like most of you, I prefer Communic over Nevermore---just more my taste.

Like the reviewer says, these guys aren't progressive in the stereo-typical prog metal template of Dream Theater, Fates Warning or, more recently, Pagan's Mind and others. Nor are they super complex in the same way those bands and Nevermore can be. They seem to take a lot of simple parts and arrange them into a very interesting whole. And their slower parts have almost a 70's folk rock quality to them. The fact that their songs are all fairly long, but never "feel" too long when you listen to them is another great quality.

I agree too---if you are checking them out for the 1st time I would start with their 2nd, Waves Of Visual Decay. Over time I may grow to like Payment more, but today I still think Waves is a little bit better. Plus Waves has two hidden tracks on it that are alternative versions of 2 of the best songs from the 1st album, so that way you really get a taste of both albums on 1 CD.

Another great record from Communic. It took me some spins to get into this one, but then it hit me like a brick.

I stil think their debut is better tough.

This is the first Communic album I ever purchased and I think it really kicks ass.
Raven's Cry is my favorite track. It's catchy, has great guitar work, pounding drums and great vocal lines. The more I listen to this album the more It grows on me.

give this album a chance, it will reward you in a most surprising way!

I've been on Prog/power metal kick lately. I'm not sure this is better than Nevermore or not but it's definitely very good stuff. The minute we stopped comparing bands with each other and trying to figure out which is superior to the other is the instance that we can appreciate bands immensely more than we do now.
