Man, what has happened to my beloved Habs lately? Our power play is shit (I think tonight was the first time we've scored on one in something like 18 tries), we're consistently outshot, and our best players aren't scoring. Thank the lord for Price tonight, stopping what, 45 shots? And kudos to Carolina, for completely kicking our asses.

But yep... When your only two recent victories are against two of the worst teams in the league, and when all your losses aren't narrow (except for tonight's, which would have been narrow if not for Price)... Something is very wrong.

48 shots I think. Season high for us... Staal gotta get his head out of his ass and start scoring damnit.

Comforting to win today after some rather embarrasing losses.

No no, Ovechkin will score fifty goals.

And a win for the Habs! I know its against the worst team in the east and they needed a shootout to do it, but I'll take our victories where we can get them.

Hell yes, Kings win!

The Capitals looked gassed though. Playing the Ducks just the previous night can often have that effect, they really wear you down physically. Plus the caps are missing some key players from injuries.

Still, I'm thrilled about the win. The Kings had a solid game in both ends of the ice and simply outworked their opposition. Nice to see both Kings and Leafs being better than anticipated (what the fuck is up with the Stars and Senators?).

Caps have been good lately.. Ovechkin and Semin raped us alone.

Good to see Staal back on track with a hat-trick last night against the Coyotes.

Sens have always sucked, just over-achieved. And the Leafs are not doing so well anymore. Only 2 wins in their last 9 games. At least those 2 wins were against Ottawa and Montreal.

Oh, the Leafs traded forward Alex Steen and defense man Carlo Coliacovo to the St. Louis Blues for forward Lee Stempniak.

Sad to see Alex and Carlo gone, as I liked both of them. But Trader Cliff is getting rid of everybody who has been on this team for more than 3 years and is underchieving. next up: Tomas Kaberle and Pavel Kubina.

Oh come on. The Sens were a fantastic team for a couple of years there, and really hit their peak in the last half of 2006/2007 and the beginning of 2007/2008. To claim otherwise is just Toronto bias.

And lets see how all our teams do tonight. Though we lost on saturday, I was impressed with the Habs for the first time since that senators shutout- they outplayed and outshot the Bruins, and the Bruins really need to thank Tim Thomas for that one, who was been playing fantastically if I may say so. If the Habs maintain that discipline, they should have no trouble against the Islanders tonight... Lets see if they've learned their lesson.

We must be the most inconsistent team in the league. From one terrible period, to one we completely dominated, and back to basics. Dunno how me manage to lose to all these crappy teams. Thrashers, Panthers... etc.

BTW: Nice own goal by the Habs! Made me lol. Even got some attention in the big papers here in Norway. Hockey is usually very rarely mentioned here. Unless something includes the few norwegian players.

Aaaaaargh, don't mention that. I can't fucking believe we lost the game because of that- I was swearing at the TV (and O-Byrne specifically) for so long.

Man I feel bad for O'Byrne, would seriosuly suck to be that guy right now. Some people are being to hard on him though. Its not his fault Montreal is slumping right now. Sure the Habs probably would have won that game if not for him, but a ton of players have been dragging the team down with some lazy playing recently. Anyways, I just hope this weird rut they are in ends soon. I think some people are more pissed just because a win has been hard to come by recently.

That is part of it. There's no question that nearly the whole team is slumping, and particularly our best players- the fact that next to all our goals in the past few games have come from our fourth linesmen or players who haven't scored yet this season is pretty telling (and O'Byrne has been playing pretty badly too). But we haven't won a game in regulation in about two and a half weeks, and its understandable that people are pissed at O'Byrne for not only losing us that, but the entire game. I don't think we'd be anywhere near as pissed if this had happened at the end of October, say.

Oh well, there's always redemption. Wednesday's match is against one of the best, if not the best team in hockey, the Red Wings, and I'll be happy if the Habs can hold their own. And hopefully not score on themselves.
