Last season at the trade deadline there was a trade between the Leafs and Flyers. It would of been Kaberle for Carter and 1st. Seeinng how Carter has played so far this season (second in the league in goals) this trade would of been awesome for the Leafs. I hate No Trade Clause bullshit. Just imagine what we could of got for Sundin last season. More than what Atlanta got for Hossa.
I feel for you man. Rob Blake had one too and stopped a deal centered around Blake for Nabokov a couple of years ago. Oh what could have been...
Yeah I remember that, and now you lost Blake for nothing. Same as us with Sundin, he will sign somewhere later this month and it wont be the Leafs. And we will have lost him for nothing. But I do have a soft spot for Mats, he is the all time goals and points leader for the Maple Leafs after all...
And what a win last night against the Kings. Toskala is turning it on, 3 games in a row he gets the first star. Would of had the shutout if it wasn't for that early breakaway. And what about that penalty kill late in the 2nd? I love Matt Stajan, he leads the team in points right now (21 points in 23 games) and he also scored the Leafs first goal of the game. It's nice to see a Leafs draft pick doing good for once. And still wearing a Leafs jersey.
Brad Boyes...Roberto Luongo...Kyle Wellwood...
Yeah, that was a very good penalty kill. The Kings are in a huge power play slump right now, not moving well at all, but I've got to give credit to the PK of Toronto, it was very good. Toskala too ;)
Special teams decided that game for sure, Kings had the opportunity to take a two goal lead on that 4 on 3 but failed to do so while the Leafs took advantage of their opportunities.
Very disappointing loss though, I thought the Kings controlled the game pretty well and had the most scoring opportunities. They are struggling to put the puck in the net and Kopitar barely looks like half the player he was last season which is a little concerning.
Oh well, young teams are likely to have some consistency issues. We can't really lose at this point, wins are great and losses (draft position) are great too.
It'll be interesting to see what Brian Burke does to the Leafs, I definitely think he's gonna get them back on track if ownership is on board with a full rebuild and not the Tampa Bay kind of rebuild.
