Forsberg says he only wants to play in the playoffs

that's lame, letting the rest of the team do all the work then just come in during the ending :\

if Canucks lose tonight i will be sad. need ego boost after being bumraped by sharks

It must be a swedish thing.

I agree, I don't like players coming in late and cherrypicking playoff teams to sign with. I can't justify players like Sundin, Selänne and Niedermayer who all were healthy and made a comback late in the season, but I must come to the defense of Peter Forsberg. Now there's a guy who loves to play and if he could he would be on the ice in an instant. But the poor guy just has a foot made out of glass. He's struggling with injuries constantly and now is no exception. Also last year he signed with Colorado and they certainly were no sure thing to make the playoffs, they were slightly out of it when he signed if I remember correctly.

The Kings lost against the Coyotes last night.. Horrible. They've got another game coming tonight and in my opinion it's a must-win if they want to stay in the playoff picture. If they lose tonight they might as well start moving down the rankings for a better draft pick.

Oh we all know about Forsberg and his foot over here. Now that Sundin signed, Forsberg will be the main topic of discussion on our hockey shows now. Just like he is every year since he got traded from Philly. I know it must be very annoying for him having that foot, but why would he sign with Colarado this year? They are done. Sakic is out, Stastny is out, no number 1 goalie. All that equals no plaoyffs for the Avs. If I was Forsberg and wanted to play this year I'd take a pay cut and go to Detroit or San Jose. I am sure that if he called them up and said he would like to play for them they would make the necessary moves to acquire him. Maybe he should go to Vancouver and play with Sundin.

Too bad that they aren't doing very well this year. Better luck next time!
When does the playoffs start then?

There is still rouglhy half a season left, so any team that is out now still has a chance to get in. I just don't see Colarado pulling it off. With or without Forsberg. The playoffs begin in April.

Leafs vs. Caps in roughly an hour. Retiring Mike Gartners number 11 tonight in Washington.

Matt Stajan will not play tonight because he got a soccer ball in the face. Hit him right in the eye and now he has some vision problems. I hope he is alright, he is out leading point scorer. Jamal Mayers will be back in action tonight after missing 11 games. But I am pretty meh about his return.

And now onto the WJHC.
Canada destroyed Kazahkstan today. 15-0 was the final score. Biggest shut-out in WJHC history, 8 power play goals another record. Canada is looking good. Undefeated so far.

Will you please destroy the Ovechkins?

Kept up with the Bruins last night after a horrifying evening at Atlanta the day before. We were playing really well, and deserved to get at least a point after dominating some periods of the game. It almost feels like their crossbars stole away our victory last night after we hit them like 3 on one single attack.

Oh and I HATE empty netters. Makes the game look uglier than it really was... All in all a really exciting game, and we showed our potential in a game that could've gone either way.

AO = Alex Ovechkin

and company = the rest of the team

we will not lose = I screwed that up, I meant to say win

we need every loss we can get = Leafs need to stop getting points

Was just reading about the death of the Rangers draft pick Aleksej Tsjerepanov. They found traces of drug abuse in the kids blood, and seriously, it has to be made some changes about the testing prcedures in both Russia and the US. Doesn't people realize how damn dangerous this is? And how cowardly it is? First of all, it's cheating your way to better results, and secondly it's killing you slowly and you risk dying before you're fifty... The accession on steroids and other drugs that promotes your performance is just horrifying, and no-one is doing anything about it.

Yeah it's all over the news here in Canada. But the rules in the NHL are really strict about drug abuse. If he was here in North America and playing in the AHL or NHL he would of never gotten away with it, and would probably still be alive. It's still a sad story to see such a gifted hockey player go at such a young age. I put him on the Rangers AHL affiliate on my copy of NHL 09 and he leads the AHL in goals and points. Just saying...

Onto the WJHC:
Canada wins it's 3rd game of the tournament with a 5-1 over Germany. John Tavares scored again in this game, leading the tournament with 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points. Seems what ever team gets the first overrall pick will be in good hands with Tavares.

I understand that the rules are much stricter in the NHL because hockey is a national sport, and the guys at least will be tested in international championships.. However, the NFL and Baseball is flourishing with it, and if they get busted they get shut out for one entire week... Fucking horrible. It's a reason for why many NFL-players dies before they're 50.

First we wait 6 months to sign, then we wait several weeks to see him play. What an ass.

WJHC:
Canada went down 3-0 to the USA but they (they being John Tavare) stormed back and won the game 7-4. Tavares had the hat-trick, and now Canada has a by in the semis. The drive for five is almost complete.

That was a crazy save. What the hell was that guy doing all by himself in front of the net though?

EDIT - I re-saw the highlights, he wasnt exactly all by himself in front of the net.
ANd hearing Pierre McGuire absolutely cream himself after the save was priceless.
