I hate Cage. He has made three good movies his whole career. Adaptation, The Weather Man, and Raising Arizona. The rest is pure shit, IMO.

What's there not to like about Face off then? It's a badass, although far fetched, concept and explosions and all kinds of stuff. Yeehaa. And Matchstick Men is a good film where Cage can put all of his staleness to good use :D

i was going to defend Cage but after thinking about it, the only time he's been in a good movie it's playing one of his two archetypes (the action hero and the neurotic guy) and it's probably because of the director or writer. i really liked the ones Ness mentioned and Matchstick Men though.

Reminds me that I have yet to see Wild at Heart. Gotta get to it soon. Feel like watching Batman again though. What better way to begin the new film year than with last years best?

Replace The Weather Man (seriously, wtf) with Leaving Las Vegas and I'd agree. Never seen a better portrayal of alcholic hopelessness.

RW: Doomsday. Whaddaya know, we Brits can make dumb-but-fun action films with the rest of them. 3/5.

Female Agents - Goddamn, Sophie Marceau still looks pretty darn good. She must be getting on a bit, surely?

Transsiberian. Good movie. Great acting, especially from the beautiful Emily Mortimer. I liked how it turned out in the end.

The Weather Man was awesome. Cage was actually showing emotion and acting.

I was actually just thinking the other day that Nicholas Cage has got to be one of the worst actors that is relatively successful. I mean seriously...Ghost Rider, Next, FaceOff...suck balls. But, I guess I should watch Raising Arizona again because I was probably too young to like it when i watched it.

Anyways.

Burn After Reading--2nd time. Pretty good but not fantastic. I think the ending is the funniest part

Chop Shop--Pretty damn good. There's a lot of these movies about the poor kid trying to make it on his own, though.

speaking of Mr Cage, watched Bringing Out the Dead tonight and really liked it. kinda reminded me of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but with ambulance driving instead of drugs. there were drugs too though.

Agreed! I think he was okay in "The Rock" too. But I can't for the life of me understand how "The Weather Man " is good. There was no plot whatsoever and Cage was like sleepwalking through the entire film.

edit: And someone better shoot the guy saying Mel Gibson is no Liam Neeson... I mean, mel Gibson can like be everything on a screen. A freedom fighter hundreds of years ago, a father, a soldier in the vietnam, a funny policeman... and everything he does, he does great IMO.

Nobody is as good as Liam Neeson. He is arguably the best actor around.

Arguably. I'd put quite a list before him, I think, but it's silly arguing best actors without seeing them in the same role. I think my favourite actor at the moment is Gary Oldman.

Saw a trailer for the Tom Cruise nazi propaganda film. Looks like the stupidest attention grabbing oscar-bait plot for a film ever. Might see it for teh lulz though.
