As for wall-e, man what an overrated movie. srsly.

No way. Not at all. It was excellent.

No it is overrated. All of a sudden it's such a godsend miracle that an animated movie can have a story which contains some sort of message to the audience? Geez. And a cuddling robot, no matter how cute you make him, is still just a piece of hardware. I prefer living creatures, can't really feel anything for an artificial tincan.

I don't know if it's overrated, but I didn't like it all that much, and most of my favourite films are animated.

Exactly. That little fella was so damn cute! And when EVE shut down and he thought she was ignoring him but carried on looking after her anyways... heartbreaking.

No you see, It's Wall-E that does not have a heart.

You seriously didn't like Wall-E because he was a robot as opposed to a fluffy bunny? Serious WTFage.

I watched Global Metal last night. It was so awesome, big kudos to Sam Dunn for making this even better than Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. The scope of his investigation was much bigger and his subject much more interesting than Wacken. It was the interviews with the famous musicians that carried the weight of the first film, but this time the attention was turned to the average metal fan in countries so much different culturally than Western countries. It was educational as well as entertaining.

My fav. part was in Japan. Man, I'd really love to go there one day, those japs are crazy people. Was that a bunny costume that japanese girl had in the train ? And the best line was from that guy in Saudi Arabia who got caught by the religious police for having long hair and wearing a Slayer t-shirt. Fucking outrageous and funny at the same time. And also when Sam Dunn asked Lars Ulrich about downloading... hahahaha he looked like he is out of his comfort zone.

I find it a little disturbing that the moviemakers are trying so hard to get the audience attatched to a pice of metal, an object, yeah. It sort of reflects our society in a way, although if this is intended or not I can't really say. Most people just find Wall-E cute without thinking further about it.

It wasn't Wall-E that reflected our society in the movie, it was pretty much everything else. From the Buy N Large ultrastores reminiscent of today's METRO stores or whatever you have in your country, to the mass consumerism and pollution/waste disposal problems. And lets not forget the possibility of the human race becoming just like in the movie one day - sitting in a chair all day and doing nothing. People are getting fatter, spending less time on sports and nowadays you can buy everything online. I think the creators of Wall-E did a great job portraying a possible future for humanity.

Oh and Wall-E is sooo cute. He may be a robot but he acted just like a 12 year old kid. I hope it wins an Oscar. Bolt and Kung Fu Panda were also good but too typical Disney-type movies.

Jesus, I'd hate to watch Blade Runner with you. "Tut, who cares? They're robots!" The point is that Wall-E's more than an object, even though that's how he's treated. The point is that he has a heart! Plus everything Pyro said about the human characters. It's basically Short Circuit with a bit of Terminator anti-AI stuff in there, but done excellently.

Yeah all those messages were loud and clear, I just don't find it all that spectacular. Or rather, not as good as the majority seem to think it was. It was entertaining but when the credits rolled by I was not exactly wowed by it.
Robots are cool and all but still just mechanical inventions, not organic beings. If I were religious I'd say robots does not, and never will, have a soul. Including Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Anyone seen Doubt? The trailer made it look like the biggest piece of trash ever.

Also if Meryl Streep wins I will set myself on fire. Fucking hate her.

Really? I think she's great, but there must be other actresses out there who've done better than her and Penelope friggin' Cruz and Ann 'massive eyes, massive mouth' Hathaway.

Meryl Streep, every time I see her on screen, it just looks to me like she is trying to win awards.

Also, massive mouth...

Wall-E would have been amazing without all of the environmental messages just because i would have killed myself if Wall-E hadn't gotten his personality back after Eve rebuilt him. the little robot should get a best actor nomination just because he conveyed just as much if not more emotion than Mickey Rourke did in The Wrestler (not criticizing Rourke, he did an awesome job in an awesome movie).

Love Liza - blah. Phillip Seymour Hoffman did a good job and i chuckled in a couple of spots, but all the characters were flat and didn't do anything other than what you'd expect a generic person to do in their situation.

I enjoyed it.

Raging Bull - Why oh why did I put this one off so long? What a brilliant movie. And DeNiro's performance has to be one of the best I've ever seen... EVER. 10/10.

I like big eyes and a big mouth. I also like Ms. Hathaway.

Before the Devil Knows Your Dead - liked it. If it could go bad, it went bad in this movie. Recommended.

Max Payne - couldnt even finish it, for an action movie there was a serious lack of action.

So... Who else is outraged that The Dark Knight didn't get nominated for best picture? I realise it's not the type of film that usually gets nominated, but it's so fucking good that it shouldn't matter.

Also, Slumdog Millionaire wasn't that good. The Wrestler was way better, and the father/daughter-story in it was infinitely more touching than the bullshit love-story in Slumdog. The premise of the story is good, but the director completely failed in creating romance, which is what kills a film like Slumdog.
