Given my previous remarks, do you think that this album is any different? Do they sprinkle a bit more keyboards in? I think that would help out a little bit....
If anything, this album might contain songs that sound even more the same than the songs from Regressus. It sounds like the same GOOD song granted, but you'll still get the same "been there, done that" feeling. The guitar work is a bit more thrash inspired, which in turn reduces the impact of the melodies, and there are no keyboards to mix things up either.
The band certainly has talent, and I like the singer. But, like Ben said, they just don't have "it." The album goes by, and there are no bad songs, but nothing stands out either. Good album, but nothing special. Nothing on the album will piss you off as far as quality is concerned, and you will enjoy listening to the songs. But, I predict that after 2 weeks, you will have moved on to something else, practically forgetting this album. As far I my quotes go, I usually would purchase anything that I rate 80+, while scores in the 70's represent good albums, but ones that should be sampled before shelling out $$$. THis is a good album, but there are a lot of just "good" albums out there; I can't afford to buy all of them! I only buy albums that stand out to me, and this album misses that cutoff. The talent is certainly there, but they will have to take a more interesting approach to their music in order to avoid a rather boring rut.
