Well done Charles. I love this album, but trying to describe the sound can be challenging.

Usually not so much into "classics" but I love Gorguts and I have to second Adam on that - describing Obscura is very difficult. Great review for a challenging album to completely grasp. This one's got classic written all over it. You just can't listen to tech death for years without eventually listening to this.

I have to admit I've never heard Gorguts.
Will try it ASAP.

i've always thought "it sounds like a guitar being thrown down a staircase" gets Gorguts' sound across pretty well. i've never been able to get into this but i will try again.

The first half of the record is sublime, with Nostalgia as the supreme highlight.

Has such a unique atmosphere, amazing fucking album :dio:

Clouded reminds me of a band trying to mix death metal with funeral doom lol. And it works

I need to put more effort into this album. Haven't ever taken the time of focus on it.

the erosion of sanity is a good release by the band, though it evades my sensibilities why its considered a classic.
I've never heard Obscura.

If it's a classic, then I probably need to hear this.

Good review.

One of the most unique death metal albums ever created. Finally some justice given to Gorguts on MR.

A Great review for one of the greatest, most technical and most experimental death metal releases of all time, rivaled only by maybe "The Sound of Perseverance" by Death.

They're two completely different albums.

Yeah but some were saying that Obscura was the best tech death album and I disagree.
