Hmm, well I agree a bit about Freeman. He can be tolerable sometimes if he appears in good movies. But I've lost all my respect towards Hackman after seeing The Firm and The Royal Tenenbaums. He did ok in Crimson Tide and Behind Enemy Lines though... IMO. :) I don't know, it's something about the looks on their faces. It doesn't seem "real" even though it tries to be. Especially Hackman has this slimy look on his face that gets tiresome real quick. And don't even get me started about dorks like DeNiro. :D

Gene Hackman was one of the few good things about The Royal Ts. And I'll assume you're not being serious about DeNiro, my god.

Yes, I'm dead serious.
In my opinion he has done a few decent roles like Heat, A Bronx Tale or Meet The Parents/Fockers. Other than that, my interest in the old man isn't there. He continues to be uniteresting and has this "boring" atmosphere around him. In movies such as the mentioned Righteous Kill... I mean, "fuck this" and "motherfucking that" was cool when he still had some power left in his gear. Now it just isn't that charming anymore. Pacino is the same deal. Becoming a bit worse for every movie they appear in, although I prefer him to DeNiro... I just don't think either men have that spark or what it takes (nowadays) to carry an Action or a Thriller on their shoulders.

EDIT: Although I do think that Al Pacino CAN be a good actor when he wants to. (The Recruit, Heat)

Taxi Driver, The Godfather Parts 1 and 2, Glengarry Glenross, Dog Day Afternoon. There are still other classics starring Pacino or De Niro that i haven't seen yet that everyone can throw in your face.

Robert Deniro might be the best actor ever. Seriously.

Anyways I watched My Best Friend's Girl or something...Dane Cook. Stupid, dragged on WAY too long. Romantic comedies stink most of the time.

I forgot to mention that I watched Righteous Kill last night and the director should be fucking shot. What a waste of two great actors... the only moments of greatness were De Niro's, like when he stabbed the table, but it was completely ruined.

A lot of those are too old for my taste. I like good picture and sound quality.

That's a crap excuse. Plenty of these supposedly 'old' films are available with excellent sound and picture quality.

Finally! Now there is something we can agree on. :)
I also think that it was a waste. And I was maybe a bit harsh before but I still think they are overrated. Maybe they are so wealthy and rich now so they don't have to be great actors anymore. :D

Okay, yes I know that... But the way the movies were made belongs to the old times if you know what I mean. I'm not very into the stuff from the 70's and 80's (except for Metal  ).

Most are just poor. Sweeny Todd, Braveheart, FaceOff, Sleepy Hollow, A Beautiful Mind, The Ciderhouse Rules, Last Samurai, The Rock, Armageddon, Titanic, Saw, Liar Liar, Terminator 2, Minority Report, Ransom and The Jacket are all the sort of churned out shit that average people with boring crappy film taste suck up.

Of Angel's list, only Blade Runner, Back To The Future, LOTR, and Aliens are what I would call damn good films. Not seen the others or can't be bothered deciding.

No! They aren't rubbish! :)

Terminator 2 is pure action entertainment. MUCH better than the original and the 3rd one. James Cameron is a genious. He did the same thing with Aliens. Without making it a rehash of the first film, he borrows the atmosphere but turns everything up a few notches.

Minority Report is an intelligent Sience Fiction/Thriller. It has an original plot, and it was the first movie with Tom Cruise as a good actor. I think the first half of the film is a bit better but as a whole it seems very well thought through and the reslut is great.

The Number 23 is again... a very intelligent Thriller. It grabs you by the balls and never let's go. What I liked so much was the story and how it's connected with this "Fingerling" guy and the dark atmosphere scattered throughout the whole thing. It seemes complete and the story-telling of Jim Carrey is a big plus.
