I think I said earlier that the song "Contractor" was bullshit. I actually got the wrong song, it was "Set To Fail." That song is bullshit. Never heard Contractor.

Sacrament had better songs, as I said elsewhere. My favourite LoG is still As The Palaces Burn... thinking about it, Wrath is the album I've enjoyed least from them overall.

Hmm I kind of agree but I'm not sure what would be a better category to put them in. Metalcore? Deathcore? I'm really not sure, I have never been really good at categorizing music. LoG certainly incorporate elements of death metal, which I suppose could put them in the deathcore genre, but at the same time I hear a lot of similarity between them and modern melodeath bands such as God Forbid, Soilwork, etc. Thoughts?

I'd stick them in Death/Thrash, personally, with hints of Metalcore. They're not 'proper' death or thrash or core, but a sort of amalgamation of the three.

I liked this better than Sacrament, it doesn't have the whole Pantera worship thing like Redneck etc. Everyone says LoG is going downhill because they don't keep releasing Palaces over and over and over again... gotta progress somewhere

LOG is one of those bands I loved back in 2005/2006. But the more I listen to them, the goofier/sillier they seem. At least in terms of song lyrics (am I the only one who finds that intro for Omerta just a little corny?). Musically, I always saw them as Testament with deeper growls and a more mainstream sound. Albeit not nearly as memorable as Chuck and Eric's baby.

Nonetheless, I'll probably give this album a listen someday. I still enjoy LOG every now and then (Ashes Of The Wake is probably my favorite album of their's), and I even liked the largely-panned Sacrament. So I might also enjoy this one, especially since it sounds like the band is finally starting to do something a little different with their music.

Personally, I found Sacrament to be much better than Wrath. Songs were much more interesting, this was a step back in many ways for them. Still, IT SOLD LOADS, so...

I didn't think Sacrament was largely panned, I always thought it was their most widely well received?

I found this album dull and predictable. Most of the riffs are one dimensional and too repetitive with the vocals not inspiring. I was also annoyed by the way Randy often hollers a growl before grunting the verses.

Definiately their worst album thus far and I think Fake Messiah is the first LoG song I've hated because it opens with a promising riff but descends into cliched, early Slipknot-esque metal-by-numbers with the awful chorus being shouted over and over again. This may be the last album of theirs I'll buy as I thought Sacrament was the wrong direction for these guys and Wrath confirms my suspicions that they are now just another commercial Metal band going the way of the Triviums (see 'The Crusade').

What is worse, they're starting to remind me of Chimaira.
